The US Department of State, in partnership with Cultural Vistas, accepts applications from emerging leaders (ages 25-35) across the Pacific to attend the Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) Conference in Papua New Guinea (April 2020). The Conference will include informational sessions, skills workshops, cultural activities, and site visits to deepen participants’ capacity to address regional issues related to Education; Environment and Resource Management; Civic Leadership; and Economic and Social Development. All travel, lodging and meals will be provided to selected participants. ENEA Consulting — Support for Energy Initiatives in Africa and Asia
ENEA Access offers 50 to 60 days of professional consulting services on a pro-bono basis. The Energy Access Booster is open to entrepreneurs based in Sub-Saharan Africa or Asia. Activities that can be considered for ENEA’s support include feasibility studies, market and business models, implementation of pilot projects, and others. Selected entrepreneurs receive a financial contribution of up to US$ 50 thousand. Projects must clearly contribute to the reduction of poverty and/or climate change as a result of improved access to energy. ASEAN Foundation — Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology
The Chulabhorn Graduate Institute (CGI) and the ASEAN Foundation (AF) accept applications for the Post-graduate Scholarship Program in Science and Technology 2020. Fields of study under this program are (1) Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health; (2) Environmental Toxicology; (3) and Chemical Biology. The scholarship will cover tuition, round trip airfare, a monthly stipend, book allowance, and health insurance, among other expenses. In partnership with Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), ETH Zurich promotes scientific cooperation with key institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. ETH Zurich currently calls for proposals from Swiss researchers with partners in China (incl. Hong Kong and Taiwan), Japan, South Korea, and the ASEAN region. The European Commission invites applications for the European Development Fund with the aim to create, develop and diffuse knowledge, technologies and innovations as powerful drivers of inclusive and sustainable socio-economic development in African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries. Under this call, the EU seeks to support research, science, technology, and innovation proposals with focus on sustainable development and poverty reduction. The overall goal is to create an inclusive environment for Research and Innovation in ACP countries. Any grant requested under this call for proposals must fall between €4 million and €4.2 million. Future Ready ASEAN is an online platform with learning tracks to foster digital skills, in particular computer science. The eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN is a partnership program between Maybank Foundation and ASEAN Foundation that consists of mentoring, regional leadership training, and overseas local community projects. Climate Tracker — Assignment for Photographers
Climate Tracker seeks 20 photographers from selected countries in Africa, South Asia, Asia-Pacific, and the Caribbean to cover topics on global climate solutions ranging from renewable energy, climate displacement, coastal resilience, mangroves restoration, and more. Photographers will be compensated for their work with a stipend of €350. Local travel costs will be covered. Applications are invited from photographers with professional experience and knowledge of environmental and climate change issues. Photographers aged 18-30 are encouraged to apply.
