Climate Tracker, in partnership with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, seeks five young climate journalists to participate in an online mentorship on climate solutions and journalism. The fellows will receive training on how to write articles on climate change and a monthly stipend of US$150. Applicants that are between 18 and 30 years old and are living in Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, or Asia-Pacific are eligible. To participate, applicants have to write, publish, and submit a 500+ words article (in any language) on local solutions and responses to climate change. The European Commission seeks to support local Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) as actors of governance and development work in the field. The objective is to increase participation of CSOs in addressing climate change through disaster risk reduction or resilience. Non-profit organizations established in Fiji or the European Union can request grants between €300 thousand and €680 thousand to implement activities that mitigate climate change. Global Environment Facility — Small Grants Programme: Papua New Guinea
The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) invites proposals from environmental oriented organizations for community actions and initiatives that aid benefit vulnerable communities and support efforts on sustainable development. Focal areas are (1) Biodiversity Conservation; (2) Protection of Water Resources; (3) Climate Change; (4) Sustainable Forestry Management; and (5) Pollution. United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization — Workshop: Nature-Culture Linkages in Asia and the Pacific
The purpose of the Capacity Building Workshop is to contribute to develop new approaches towards integrated conservation of cultural and natural heritage. The workshop on ‘Nature-Culture Linkages in Heritage Conservation’ will take place at the University of Tsukuba, Japan (September/October 2019). This workshop is a combination of theory, practice, and a field trip where participants will get in contact with local managers and local communities. The workshop is open to 15 professionals from Asia and the Pacific region. Organizers will cover the cost of accommodation and living expenses in Japan for the selected participants. U.S. Agency for International Development — Disaster Resilience in the Pacific
The Disaster Resilience in the Compact Nations (RESILIENCE) is a five-year USAID program that aims to improve the local capacity to prepare for natural disasters. The activity will expedite delivery of emergency and reconstruction assistance in the event of natural disasters in the Federated States of Micronesia and Republic of Marshall Islands. The objective is to increased disaster management capacity of local communities and host governments. USAID intends to provide US$17 million in total funding. The YSEALI Bootcamp, organized by the U.S. Embassy in Malaysia in collaboration with Me.reka and Biji-biji Initiative, is an initiative seeking innovative solutions to local challenges across the themes social entrepreneurship, sustainable development, civic engagement, and education. Interested participants must be 18 to 35 years old and demonstrate interest, knowledge, or professional experience in at least one of the main areas. Participants will receive 3-month of intensive business training/mentorship and a few selected groups will win a project grant of RM2 thousand to kick-start and implement their solutions. The ENEA Access Program offers 30 to 100 days of professional consulting services on a pro-bono basis to advance initiatives for energy access in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. The program is relevant for nonprofit organizations and NGOs, technology developers, and social entrepreneurs. Activities that can be considered for ENEA’s support include feasibility studies, market and business models, implementation of pilot projects, and others. Projects must clearly contribute to the reduction of poverty and/or climate change as a result of improved access to energy.
