The Elephant Managers Association (EMA) accepts proposals focused on field-based conservation projects in Africa and Asia. Projects should have a significant impact on resolving current or urgent elephant-related issues. Higher priority will be given to proposals that provide education and community outreach, provide capacity-building in local communities, and improve captive elephant management and welfare. Tusk Trust — Awards for African Conservation 2026
The Tusk Conservation Awards highlight the achievements of individuals working for conservation in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Prince William Award for Conservation in Africa (£100 thousand) is awarded to a distinguished individual for exceptional lifetime achievement in African conservation. The Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa (£75 thousand) is awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a considerable commitment to conservation, and who has already made a significant impact. The Tusk Wildlife Ranger Award (£30 thousand) recognizes the dedication and commitment of an individual who works in the field on a daily basis protecting Africa’s wildlife. European Union — COAL Prize 2026
The COAL Prize 2026 invites artists to submit projects dedicated to “The Night.” The program seeks to support contemporary art that addresses ecological issues by defending the night as a common good, a refuge for biodiversity, and a vital rhythm for the regeneration of life. The Prize is open to artists from all over the world. The winner receives €12 thousand to support artwork in progress and benefits from an (optional) residence run by the Museum of Hunting and Nature at the Belval Domaine. International Development Research Centre — Science Granting Councils Capacity Strengthening Hub
The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) invites proposals to establish and operate a Capacity Strengthening Hub for the third phase of the Science Granting Councils Initiative in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Hub will coordinate capacity-building plans, manage a digital knowledge-sharing platform, and support monitoring and evaluation for science granting councils across the region. Legally registered organizations or consortia based in Sub-Saharan Africa with expertise in research and innovation management are eligible to apply. SENSE Foundation Brussels invites applications for its grant program to support projects focused on health, environmental protection, and sustainable development. The Australian Center for International Agricultural Research awards the John Allwright Fellowship for university postgraduate studies in Australia. The aim of the Fellowship is to strengthen scientific research capability and institutional links in ACIAR partner countries to undertake high-quality and impactful research. In the 2027 intake round, research dedicated to addressing climate change, climate adaptation or strengthening resilience to climate change impacts is encouraged. The Future Fit Asia Innovation Challenge supports startups and academic teams across the Asia-Pacific region that are developing breakthrough technologies in food, health, and environmental biotechnology. The challenge features the Grantham Foundation Detox Awards, which offer US$90 thousand in non-dilutive funding to solutions that eliminate toxicity in natural and human systems. Nordic Africa Institute — African Scholar Program
The Nordic Africa Institute offers a scholarship for early-career researchers based in Africa to conduct research in Sweden for two to three months. The program is open to PhD students enrolled in African doctoral programs and postdoctoral researchers who completed their degree within the last four years, provided they are employed at an African university or research center. The scholarship covers economy airfare, accommodation, a workspace at the institute, and an installation grant of 2,500 SEK. International Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology — African Women in Biotechnology
The ICGEB-SAWBP Postdoctoral Fellowship Scheme supports South African women researchers holding a PhD degree, in Biotechnology or a related discipline who will perform hypothesis-driven research. Proposed research projects must fall within one of the ICGEB areas of research: Infectious Diseases, Non-Communicable Diseases, Bioinformatics, Plant Systems Biology, Biopesticides and Virology. The financial package includes an annual non-taxable stipend of approximately US$17,500 (ZAR 320,000) and annual research costs of approximately US$2,700 (ZAR 50,000), plus additional mobility support for visits to ICGEB labs in Italy and India.
