Drucker Institute — Drucker Prize 2019

The Drucker Institute invites nominations for the Drucker Prize 2019. The prize recognizes innovative non-profit organizations that inspire “change that creates a new dimension of performance”. The winning organization will receive a US$100 thousand prize. Past winners include projects in the field of sustainable energy, small-scale agriculture, rainforest conservation, and many others. SNV Netherlands — Climate Smart Agriculture in East Africa

SNV invites expressions of interest from private sector-led agribusinesses to co-invest in the implementation of business models under the Climate Smart Agriculture East Africa Project (CSA-EA). The goal is to increase the availability of accessible climate smart food for the population in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Selected SMEs and cooperatives will receive a maximum co-investment of 50% or €200 thousand, whichever is lower, for the proposed solutions. International Institute for Tropical Agriculture — Agricultural Research for Graduate Students in Africa

The International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) will support 30 young academics and professionals for research on youth engagement in agribusiness and rural economic activities in Africa. The research has to be carried out in the following countries: Benin, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, Senegal, and Zambia. Applicants must currently be registered in PhD or masters programs in recognized universities, and may not be more than 40 years old. The program particularly invites applications from women. The accepted applicants will be offered coaching and training through IITA to build their research knowledge and skills. Awards for research grants are up to US$10 thousand. African Union — Support for Youth and Women in Livestock, Fisheries and Agribusiness

The African Union aims to promote the entrepreneurial agribusiness as means for job and wealth creation for Africa’s youth and women. Proposed projects under this call should address actions in the thematic areas of fisheries, aquaculture, animal farming and agribusiness networks. Society for International Development — Andrew E. Rice Award 2019

The Andrew E. Rice Award for Leadership and Innovation recognizes the achievements of an exceptional young professional working in the field of international development. Past winners include field research on agriculture strategies and the creation of low-cost digital games that inspire social change. Candidates must be between 22 to 32 years old and have at least two years of experience in international development in developing countries. The winner will receive US$1,000. Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey — Research Fellowships 2019

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) awards research fellowships to international highly qualified PhD students and young postdoctoral researchers. Applicants should be non-Turkish citizens who are age 35 or younger. Preference is for candidates who have the potential to contribute to Turkey’s international cooperation in scientific and technological development. The fields of research collaboration include agricultural sciences, among others. The research fellowship provides a monthly stipend of 2,500 Turkish Liras, plus travel and health insurance. The European Commission seeks project proposals to support Kosovo’s farmers and agri-rural economic operators to build the capacities that they need in order to become more competitive on the market. Grassroots Justice Prize — Legal Empowerment for Communities

The Grassroots Justice Prize recognizes grassroots institutions across the globe that are working to put the power of law into people’s hands. Three awards, each of US$10 thousand, are available to non-profit organizations, social enterprises, and public institutions that focus on legal empowerment to tackle poverty, injustice, or other social problems. U.S. Agency for International Development — Agriculture and Food-Systems Development Burma

USAID seeks applications to implement the Agriculture and Food-Systems Development Activity in Burma. Projects should focus on increased access to agriculture support services, economic interdependence among market actors of different ethnic backgrounds, smallholder based supply-chains, and women’s empowerment in agribusiness. Israeli Agency for International Development — Course: Agricultural Education in Primary and Secondary Schools

Israel’s Agency for International Development (MASHAV) offers professional short courses in Israel in subject areas that include agriculture, energy, health, education, and social development. MASHAV offers a limited number of scholarships to cover course fees, accommodation, medical insurance, and other expenses. The international course on “Agricultural Education in Primary and Secondary Schools For African Countries” will focus on agricultural education with the aim to provide rural populations in African countries with agriculture skills and professional knowledge to end hunger, achieve food security and promote sustainable agriculture.
