The Human Development Innovation Fund seeks to fund innovative projects in water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) in Tanzania. Projects should increase demand, uptake and sustainability of improved sanitation facilities through innovative financing mechanisms, technology, and behavior change promotion. African Development Bank — Africa Climate Change Fund, Second Call for Proposals
The Africa Climate Change Fund has launched its second call for proposals. The Fund aims to enhance the capacity of African countries to improve their institutional governance for access to international climate finance, and to develop policies, programs and projects for climate resilience and low-carbon growth. Eligibility for funding extends to African governments, NGOs, research organizations, regional institutions, and consortia of these eligible organizations. Landesa Rural Development Institute — Women’s Land Rights Visiting Professionals 2018
Landesa’s program for Visiting Professionals supports motivated professionals to enhance their ability to improve women’s land rights in the developing world. The program is currently open to professionals working in China, India, Liberia, Myanmar, or Tanzania. Landesa provides orientation and leadership training in Seattle (USA). International Institute of Education — Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund
The Indigenous Biocultural Exchange Fund provides up to US$5 thousand to indigenous individuals to attend global biocultural exchanges or meetings which impact the applicant’s home territory or region. Applicants must be indigenous or members of a local indigenous community. Additional preference will be given to women and youth. The fund is especially for, but not limited to, indigenous individuals in the following regions: African Rift Valley; Central Asia and Turkey; Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexico; Northern Australia; and Melanesia. UK Department for International Development — Postdoctoral African Fellowship in Hydro-Economics
REACH is a 7-year programme funded by the UK’s Department for International Development, and led by the University of Oxford, to promote research in water science, policy, and practice. REACH will fund a postdoctoral African to develop a hydro-economic tool or model that can be used by Ethiopia’s Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Electricity to address water economics in the important Awash Basin. Applicants must be nationals of a Sub-Sahara African country and should hold a PhD at the time of application.The available funding is up to £60 thousand through March 2019. FAO of the United Nations — FLEGT in Countries with Partnership Agreements
FAO administers the EU’s program of Forest Law Enforcement, Governance, and Trade (FLEGT). The program is open to government institutions, civil society, and private-sector organizations in timber-producing countries engaged in FLEGT’s Voluntary Partnership Agreements. These countries are Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Dem Rep Congo, Gabon, Ghana, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Laos, Liberia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. Kenya Community Development Foundation — Wangari Maathai Scholarship Fund for Kenyan Women
The Wangari Maathai Scholarhip is co-sponsored by the Kenya Community Development Foundation, the Greenbelt Movement, and the Rockefeller Foundation to support young Kenyan women (ages 18 – 25) for university studies in environmental conservation. One individual is chosen each year. The selected individual must demonstrate an ability to successfully mobilize people and provide leadership in environmental advocacy. Scottish Government — Climate Justice Fund
The Scottish Government’s Climate Justice Innovation Fund (CJIF) is open to any Scottish-based organisation, working with an in-country partner or partners, to support climate justice-related projects which demonstrate innovation in the field. CJIF projects should be implemented in one or more of Malawi, Rwanda, or Zambia. Awards are up to £100 thousand for grants over a maximum of three years. European Commission — Promoting Investment in Kenya Agribusiness
The EC calls for proposals to identify an institution that will manage a fund to integrate smallholder farmers and pastoralists within their value chains by blending grants and commercial loans to promote agribusiness in Kenya. Eligibility for funding extends to NGOs, public sector operators, local authorities, and international (inter-governmental) organisations based in the EU and ACP countries (including Kenya).
