The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences Next Einstein Initiative (AIMS) invites early-career academics from Africa to apply for the AIMS Small Research Grants in Climate Change Science. AIMS will support community-driven projects that are at the upper limit of the research-innovation value chain. Projects will be supported for a period of 6 to 12 months at a maximum cost of US$ 10 thousand per Grantee. The deadline for applications is 30 July 2018. Link

The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to interact and explore research collaborations. The workshop ‘Sustainable Energy and Climate Change in Russia: policies, discourses and narratives’ will provide an opportunity for sharing research expertise and networking. During the workshop, Early Career Researchers will have the opportunity to present their research. The IUSSTF invites Indian applicants to apply for the Bhaskara fellowships and student internships for research on solar energy at reputed scientific/technological institutions in the USA. Preference will be given to research aimed at issues of solar energy in India. Eligibility extends to Indian PhD students and researchers in publicly-funded R&D laboratories, S&T institutions (non-private), and recognized academic institutes in India. Through its Champions Program, Mission Innovation seeks to recognize exceptional researchers and innovators who are developing new ways of making clean energy cheaper and more reliable by using it more efficiently. MI Champions will participate in the fourth MI ministerial (MI-4) meeting in Canada (May 2019). APWLD invites female media professionals across Asia-Pacific region to participate in the inaugural media fellowship programme that aims to strengthen media advocacy on grassroots issues. The fellowship theme for this year is Climate Change. Proposed projects should focus on the feminist perspective of climate justice. The annual Climate and Clean Air Awards are given to recognize exceptional contributions and actions taken by individuals or groups to reduce carbon and methane emissions. Any individual, city, subnational government, national government or private entity taking decisive action on short-lived climate pollutants is encouraged to apply. The EEP for Southern and East Africa announces a new call for projects in renewable energy, energy saving, and energy efficiency. Call 14 is for early-stage projects off-grid and on-grid clean energy projects in active development phase in the range of €200 thousand to €1 million, varying with co-financing contributions. Projects should be implemented in one or more of the following countries: Botswana, Burundi, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia or Zimbabwe. The AJSPI, in partnership with the BNP Paribas Foundation, launches its first climate investigation grant for European science journalists. The purpose of this grant is to encourage ambitious field investigations focused on understanding climate, adaptation to climate change, and different mitigation strategies. Eligibility extends to professional journalists (print, radio, TV, web), and members of a national association of science journalists, based in Europe.
