DIRAJ invites applications from journalists located in Africa and the Arab States for the first Media Awards on disaster risk prevention, reduction and recovery. This award is open for accredited Journalists working in television, radio, print media and verified news websites. Winners will receive a cash award and mentorship. The ICFJ accepts applications for the Global Climate Reporting Program. Participants will learn from global experts about how extreme weather and climate affect human health and safety and natural ecosystems, and produce stories on these critical topics. Participants will travel to San Francisco in September to attend the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit. Airfare, lodging and meals during the program will be covered by the organizers. The APEC Climate Center (APCC) accepts applications for a training program with the subject of user-oriented statistical downscaling of climate change scenarios for agriculture and water resources to be held in Korea (15-20 October 2018).  The 1-week training program aims to provide information and technical support for better regional planning and reduction of economic losses caused by adverse climate conditions. Scientists and working level staff from national research institutes in agriculture and/or water-related fields in developing countries, preferably APEC economies, are invited to apply. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers Story Grants to support the production of in-depth stories on climate and environmental change in the Bay of Bengal region. Particular attention should be given to the adaptation needs, challenges, efforts and success stories of vulnerable and marginalized communities, women and youth. Eligibility extends to professional journalists and other expert media practitioners. Most grants will range from US$1 thousand to US$2 thousand. The application deadline is 13 August 2018. Power Africa accepts applications from women in the energy sector to participate in a four-week career development training workshop (October 2018). Successful applicants will be provided round-trip transportation, lodging, meals, and course materials. The Innovation Fund Denmark (IFD) and the India Department of Science and Technology (DST) launch a call for joint projects to further develop and strengthen the Danish-Indian research cooperation in the areas Renewable Energy. The Danish and Indian applicants must develop one joint project plan. Project proposals must include one Principal Investigator (PI) each in India and Denmark. Mission Innovation (MI) seeks to identify technologies in the field of CO2 capture, separation, storage and CO2 value addition. The funding of US$ 200 thousand to US$1 million under this call will be available to support activities towards design, research & development of technologies that can address widely affordable ways for carbon capture. The project has to be led by a scientist from India with the participation of at least one MI member country (including China, Indonesia, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia, among others). One Young World seeks applications for its Mary Robinson Climate Justice Award 2018. Submitted projects must addresses sustainable development and/or climate change with a particular emphasis on balancing the needs of present and future generations, i.e. poverty reduction, conserve or sustainably manage natural and cultural heritage, or climate education. The winner will receive £5 thousand to support or launch their project and a fully sponsored delegate place to attend the One Young World Summit 2018 in The Hague (Netherlands). The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences Next Einstein Initiative (AIMS) invites early-career academics from Africa to apply for the AIMS Small Research Grants in Climate Change Science. AIMS will support community-driven projects that are at the upper limit of the research-innovation value chain. Projects will be supported for a period of 6 to 12 months at a maximum cost of US$ 10 thousand per Grantee. The deadline for applications is 30 July 2018. Link

The British Council supports research workshops under the programs Researcher Links and the Newton Fund to assist early-career researchers from the UK and Russia to interact and explore research collaborations. The workshop ‘Sustainable Energy and Climate Change in Russia: policies, discourses and narratives’ will provide an opportunity for sharing research expertise and networking. During the workshop, Early Career Researchers will have the opportunity to present their research.
