The IPCC Scholarship Programme provides scholarships for PhD students from developing countries for research that advances the understanding of the scientific basis of risks of climate change. The scholarship amount is €15 thousand per year for up to two years. Climate Tracker, in partnership with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, seeks five young climate journalists to participate in an online mentorship on climate solutions and journalism. The fellows will receive training on how to write articles on climate change and a monthly stipend of US$150. Applicants that are between 18 and 30 years old and are living in Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, or Asia-Pacific are eligible. To participate, applicants have to write, publish, and submit a 500+ words article (in any language) on local solutions and responses to climate change. China-UK Newton Fund Researcher Links seeks early-career researchers from the UK and China to participate in the workshop “Coastal and Offshore Renewable Energy Systems under Extreme Events”. The focus of the workshop is the use of environmental science, technology and engineering to tackle key challenges affecting the development of coastal infrastructures and offshore renewable energy systems. During the workshops researchers will have the opportunity to present their research, share their research expertise and do networking. The priorities of this call for proposals are synergies between green entrepreneurs and new business opportunities in renewable energy; investments in alternative sources of energy; and solar energy. The Belmont Forum’s collaborative research action on Resilience in Rapidly Changing Arctic Systems (CRA Arctic II) is an initiative to monitor and understand the complex changes occurring in the Arctic. This call supports medium-sized research projects with 3 to 4 years duration, with a recommended budget of up to €1.5 million. Participating countries in this Arctic call are Canada, Denmark, France, Japan, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and USA. All proposals must integrate across the natural sciences and social sciences, and they should include participation by three or more of the partner countries. The Alliance launches a four-year clean cooking market development project in Haiti. The project aims to set the foundation for the transformation of the clean cooking market to cleaner and more efficient cookstoves and fuels in Haiti. The overall objective is to reduce the negative climate, environment, economic, and health impacts from traditional cooking practices. With funding provided by Germany, WASCAL engages in research to help tackle the severe challenges posed by climate change, focusing on West Africa. The WASCAL Graduate Studies Program offers full scholarships to support four master’s and six doctoral programs implemented at ten universities in West African countries. WASCAL’s member countries are Bénin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Niger, Mali, Nigeria, Sénegal, and Togo. Doctoral students may spend up to six months at a host institution in Germany. Graduate students have access to the WASCAL research facilities located in various watersheds of West Africa.
