The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks opportunities to co-create, and collaborate in the research, testing and scaling of innovative solutions that will advance climate action with a focus on girls’ education. USAID invites organizations, companies, community-based enterprises, academic and research institutions, and government agencies to propose novel or creative approaches. Halcyon supports entrepreneurs that seek to build climate resilience across Latin America and the Caribbean to combat the compounding effects of climate change on poverty, food insecurity, health disparities, and displacement. The Fellowship will be delivered in a hybrid modality, with three virtual meetings, a one week in-person residency at Halcyon and a one week in-person residency in Mexico City. Participants receive US$5 thousand per venture equity-free stipend to use toward travel expenses to attend the residencies, a one week long residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Washington, DC (USA), and a one week long residency in Mexico City (Mexico). The Lacuna Fund seeks proposals from organizations interested in developing datasets that will help to better understand the relationship between Climate & Forests and generate interventions that could mitigate the impacts of climate change. Lacuna anticipates supporting up to 6 smaller projects with budgets between US$50-100 thousand and up to 3 larger projects with budgets ranging from US$200-300 thousand. Research proposals should advance the understanding of the Arctic’s rapidly changing natural environment, social and cultural systems, and improve the capacity to project future change. The U.S. Embassy Morocco announces an open grant competition to award a cooperative agreement to organize a regional Intercultural TechCamp for Climate Change. The Embassy invites proposals from climate-change-focused organizations. Funding of up to US$100 thousand is available for the implementation of the program. Eligibility is limited to non-profit Moroccan organizations, associations, think tanks, public or private institutions, or civil society organizations with expertise in environmental programming and climate change. The Global Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Fund supports scaling up innovative approaches to ecosystem-based adaptation to increase the resilience of communities against the impacts of climate change. The goal is to build awareness and understanding of the critical role of natural assets in underpinning resilience and expand the knowledge base to help make the case for working with people and nature. The fund is open for contributions of US$50 thousand to US$250 thousand, with no specified country focus. The maximum project duration is 36 months. International Journalists’ Programmes (IJP) announces a special fellowship for journalists interested in reporting in the field of climate and energy. Ten journalists, who are granted the climate & energy bursary, will receive training, support, and are welcome to pursue transnational research on a common topic during their fellowship. Each fellow will receive a stipend of €3.800 to help cover travel costs, accommodation and personal expenses. Eligibility extends to journalists working for any print, radio, online or TV media in Germany, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia.
