The OBC Conservation Fund makes grants for bird conservation in Asia. Grant-making priorities are projects that benefit globally threatened bird species; that conserve threatened bird habitats; and that are led by Asian residents. Small Conservation Awards are up to £1,500 for projects of 12-18 months, with applications before 31 March of each year. The Columbus Zoo makes conservation grants for research, local community involvement, capacity building, environmental education, and behavior change leading to improved conservation of wildlife and habitat. Grant requests may range from US$1 thousand to US$25 thousand, but grants are limited to US$5 thousand for first-time applicants. First-time applicants must submit a pre-proposal. The ICCS Biodiversity Fellows Programme offers participants the chance to spend up to three months at the University of Oxford, writing papers, developing ideas or writing grant proposals. ICCS will cover expenses related to travel, accommodation and training events for the duration of the programme. The Fellowships are for people working for NGOs, government institutions, or in the business environment. Applications from developing country nationals are particularly welcome. The U.S. Embassy Vientiane invites applications from organizations to carry out a five-day workshop in Laos on sustainable eco-tourism for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). The workshop will focus on building theoretical and practical knowledge about responsible, sustainable and ecofriendly tourism in Southeast Asia and explore different approaches on how to promote small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the tourism industry. Candidates can apply for US$250 thousand and should outline their potential to implement an eco-tourism project in their community that generates sustainable income in their local community. UNESCO ARC-WH invites applications for a capacity building programme for World Heritage professionals in the Arab Region. The pilot workshop aims at building a strong network of experts and will be held from 9 – 13 December 2018 in Bahrain. Participants must have at least 5 years experience working in the field of Cultural and/or Natural Heritage. The costs of the participants is covered by the ARC-WH. The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) is a program of the U.S. government to support bright young leaders ages 18-35 in the ASEAN countries. The Consulate General Surabaya announces an open competition for a cooperative agreement to develop and implement a five-day workshop in Bali, Indonesia connecting social enterprises and startup incubators interested in responding to environmental challenges in Southeast Asia. The Critical Coastlines Grant Program funds community-based or non-profit organizations from around the world working to improve the resilience of coastal ecosystems. Threats relevant to this program include ecosystem collapse, climate change, rising sea levels, ocean pollution, ocean acidification, overfishing, and natural disasters. The wildlife photography contest series for 2018 is open. Wildlife Photo will award prizes worth US$18 thousand in total (including photography trips and equipment). A selection of winners and highly-commended images will be exhibited on an outdoor screen in New York City. The Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund makes grants for projects that conserve the world’s most endangered species. Applicant must demonstrate a direct conservation benefit to the species or its habitat. While funding can only be granted to government agencies, individuals or groups may work with an eligible state government.
