The South America Program of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) invites proposals for the conservation of species, habitats and ecological processes across landscapes with high biodiversity value in South America. Requested grants should range from US$25 thousand to a maximum of US$100 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends to qualified and relevant non-profit organizations and universities. The U.S. Department of State seeks to build civilian law enforcement capabilities to combat wildlife crime in South Asia. The aim is to strengthen legislative and regulatory frameworks; build investigative and enforcement capacity; and enhance prosecutorial and judicial capacity. The focus countries are Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit NGOs and educational institutions in the USA and other countries, including consortia of local and non-local organizations. The Monarch Butterfly Fund (MBF) launches an international competition to find a tracking technology that can deliver important scientific insights. The fund offers a $50 thousand cash prize to the individual or team that can conceptualize and develop an innovative tagging and tracking system that can be easily implemented in current conservation and scientific research, allowing individual monarchs to be tracked during the migration. Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites working journalists from Latin America and the Caribbean to apply for the biodiversity and conservation fellowship at the inaugural LACCCB 2018 (25-27 July 2018, in Trinidad & Tobago). Selected participants will attend a workshop prior to the congress and then spend their time at the conference, developing sources and story ideas, and reporting on news from conservation organizations, governments and researchers. The Society of Wetland Scientists seeks submissions for its Youth Art Contest. There are two categories: Grades 1 – 4 (artists between 6-10 years old) and Grades 5 – 8 (artists between 10-14 years old). Winners will receive a small cash prize. The Explorers Club is a multidisciplinary professional society dedicated to the advancement of field research, and to preserving the instinct to explore. The Scott Pearlman Field Awards are grants for artists, writers, filmmakers, photographers, and journalists in support of scientific expeditions sponsored by the Explorers Club. The winning candidate will receive a cash award of $10 thousand. Applicants do not have to be a member of The Explorers Club to qualify for a grant, and there are no nationality or age restrictions. The 7th International Conference on Biodiversity Conservation and Ecosystem Management (26-27 July 2018 in Melbourne, Australia) is a global platform to meet worldwide professionals in environment science, discuss and learn about Ecology and its associated fields. Researchers, scientists, scholars, students and business delegates from all around the world are invited to register and submit abstracts. There is no fully-funded scholarship to attend the congress but applicants receive a discount when contacting the program manager prior to registration (referral code: BCTVG-2018). The CEPF seeks applications from civil society organizations to submit proposals to conduct an evaluation of three pilot long-term vision exercises for (1) the Balkans sub-region; (2) the Indo-Burma Hotspot; and (3) the Albertine Rift and Eastern Arc Mountains sub-region. The objective of the evaluation is to inform the scope of work for future long-term vision exercises. The evaluation must be conducted during April 2018. The Thiess Asia-Pacific Riverprize invites applications from any organization in the Asia-Pacific region involved in river management, restoration and/or protection. The finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their projects at the 21st International Riversymposium. The winner will receive a cash prize and a trophy. The Christensen Fund makes grants to indigenous-led and community-based organizations for projects that combine biodiversity with cultural diversity. Pre-proposals are accepted for consideration in the following programs: African Rift Valley; Central Asia; Northwest Mexico; Global; and San Francisco Bay Area. Most grants are in the range of US$50 thousand to US$100 thousand for one or two years. The application period for pre-proposals is 01 August through 31 August. Link
