The program aims to strengthen trust between journalists and NGOs/CSOs by upskilling journalists to better report on the topic and enhancing CSOs’ communications. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers 12 reporting grants to support the production of in-depth stories that will call attention to critical environmental issues in the Pacific region. ENJ expects at least six stories with focus on ocean issues, such as efforts and solutions to protect the ocean, ways to increase ocean’s resilience to climate change and regulate sustainable use of its resources. The Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians funds clinically-oriented and/or conservation research on reptiles and amphibians. Proposals submitted by ARAV members will be given priority. Legacy Landscapes Fund announces its first open call for proposals. Legacy Landscapes Fund (LLF) is a grant-making institution focused on the world’s most important protected areas and their buffer zones. “Legacy Landscapes” (LL) are terrestrial landscapes covering a contiguous area of at least 200 thousand hectares (2000 km²) that are ecologically largely intact and of global significance. LLF’s Sustaining Grant program supports the LL with a $15 million grant in tranches of $1 million per year over 15 years. For its Sustaining Grants, LLF requires a minimum co-financing of $5 million. Biodiversity and Protected Areas Management (BIOPAMA) supports community-based organizations engaged in the conservation of biodiversity to carry out sustainable conservation measures in protected and conserved areas. Grant size can vary from €100 thousand to €200 thousand. Only partnerships between a non-governmental organization and a community-based organization are eligible to apply. This call for proposals is open for countries located in Eastern and Southern Africa only. The deadline to submit concept note applications is 27 March 2022. The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for a project to strengthen support for environmental defenders in Latin America. DRL prioritizes countries and communities in Latin America where violence against environmental defenders is most acute. The total funding available under this call is US$2 million. UNESCO and the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) make grants to support the creation of geoparks in Small Island Developing States. Geoparks are sites and landscapes of international geological significance that are managed with a holistic concept of protection, education and sustainable development. UNESCO offers tailor-made consultancy services specifically designed to support local teams to develop a UNESCO Geopark project.
