The SDC calls for proposals for innovations in city region food systems that can reach millions of people living in poverty. The proposed projects under this call should focus on small and middle-sized towns (market towns) in developing countries. Eligibility extends to local or international institutions. The Government of China offers scholarship to enable African students to study in China in the 2018/2019 Academic Year. The scholarships are intended for Master and Doctoral Programmes including one at the China Agricultural University, and many others. The SMAIAS is an Independent Research Organisation which seeks to influence land and natural resources policies in Africa through multi-disciplinary science research, policy dialogues, and training. The Small Research Grants program is intended to support research projects with budgets of US$2,500 for dissertation writing. Eligibility extends to emerging young African scholars from agriculture and other related professional fields whose research is aimed at helping to inform policies and practices that improve the lives of marginalised groups who depend on agriculture as a source of their livelihoods. Uganda Martyrs University in conjunction with African Center for Agro-Ecology and Livelihood Systems (ACALISE) invites applications for PhD and MSc ACALISE National/International Scholarships. Programmes include PhD in Agro-Ecology and Livelihood Systems, MSc in Agro-Ecology, and others. Applicants must be citizens of a country in Sub-Saharan Africa who are currently enrolled on any of the ACALISE Programmes. The PhD scholarship will cover full tuition fees, accommodation and book allowance. The MSc scholarship is a contribution towards tuition fees. The closing date for applications is 16 July 2018. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks organizations to co-create, co-design, co-invest, and collaborate on research and development innovations to prevent and treat nutrition vulnerabilities in complex environments. Areas of interest include innovations to maximize impact across sectors, including health, agriculture and humanitarian assistance. The U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to support Pacific Islands businesses in the fisheries/seafood sector to adopt sustainable and inclusive practices. The submitted program should leverage U.S. expertise in innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment to empower Pacific Islands businesses. The European Union seeks proposals for the program “CSO-RISE – Civil Society Organisations in Research and Innovation for Sustainable Development” to foster the initiatives of the civil society organisations in their capacities to address economic, social and climate-resilient issues through innovative interventions. The proposals presented should cover technologies, economic activities, policies and services in the theme sustainable agriculture. Grants will fall between 1.5 – 2.2 million. The European Union seeks proposals for projects that address challenges and create opportunities for the youth in Swaziland through entrepreneurship opportunities in sustainable agriculture. Grants requested must fall between €372 thousand and €472 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations located in the European Union or Swaziland. UK organisations can apply to work with Colombian partners on innovative agricultural solutions in Colombia. Subject areas are new technologies and innovations in the Colombian agriculture sector, particularly by female smallholder farmers. Early-stage awards range from £150 thousand to £500 thousand for up to 18 months. Late-stage awards range from £200 thousand to £800 thousand.
