The Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Small Scale Irrigation seeks private sector partners in the areas of irrigation technology supply, finance and value chain development to accelerate scaling of small-scale irrigation technologies in Ghana and Ethiopia. Proposed projects must benefit smallholders and be environmentally sustainable. The proposed budget should not exceed US$725 thousand. In order to be eligible, for-profit businesses and social enterprises must have a presence and experience in the region and/or country of interest. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seeks proposals for grants to  implement inclusive red meat value chains for women and youth farmers in Eastern and Southern Africa. The IFAD will support livestock development in the targeted countries Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The grant amount under this call is up to US$2 million. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers scholarships for Masters and Doctoral Studies in Poverty, Land & Agrarian Studies at the Institute for Poverty, Land & Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), University of the Western Cape (UWC). The scholarship covers tuition fees, travel, and a monthly living allowance. The scholarship is aimed at young candidates, mid-career professionals, researchers and university staff from Africa. The ERA-NET SUSFOOD2 and CORE Organic Cofunds (SF/CO) launches a joint call for transnational research project proposals on sustainable and organic food systems. The call aims to reinforce research cooperation between EU members and associated states to develop more sustainable food systems from production to consumption. The maximum budget is €1.5 million per research proposal. The call is open to research consortia comprised of a minimum of 3 independent legal entities from a minimum of 3 different SF/CO partner countries. The European Commission seeks to reduce carbon emissions resulting from deforestation and poor agricultural practices. The objective of this call is to improve the climate resilience of subsistence farmers in Timor-Leste through the application of rural climate smart practices and reforestation in targeted rural areas. The grants requested under this call can be up to €2.7 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations in a Member State of the European Union or Timor-Leste. The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks short videos (1-2 minutes) for the “My Food our Future” video contest. The video should offer ideas and solutions to access healthy and affordable diets. Young filmmakers from all around the world have the chance to win a US$500 prepaid gift card. The European Commission seeks to contribute to the sustainable improvement of rural households and their food security in Madagascar. The objective of this call for proposals is to intensify and diversify sustainable agriculture, strengthen agro-ecological products, and invest in the agriculture and wood energy sectors. The IUSSTF announces the 2020 Khorana Program for Scholars. The program will provide a stipend, airfare, and health insurance to enable Indian students to undertake 10-12 weeks of research at U.S. universities in areas of biotechnology, including agricultural biotechnology. The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) seeks to increase smallholder farmer productivity and income through access to improved seeds and improved PPP in Central Africa. IFAD will provide a three-year grant for the total amount of up to US$3 million. The project is expected to enhance reliable access of smallholder farmers to quality cassava planting material and maize seed of at affordable prices. The International Tree Foundation makes grants through its Sustainable Community Forestry Program to conserve and restore local forest resources and associated biodiversity; improve local livelihoods; and increase local resilience to climate change. ITF welcomes applications for community tree projects that take place in Commonwealth countries of Africa. The applying organization must be a registered NGO in the country where the project will take place. Grants are up to £3,000 for 2 years.
