Securing Water for Food seeks master-level students or master-level graduates to act as field evaluators to conduct in-country, field research with SWFF in Ethiopia, India, Uganda, Bangladesh or South Africa. SWFF is looking for candidates that have the skills and interest in gathering qualitative and quantitative data from farmers and other stakeholders in emerging market economies. Selected applicants will receive a roundtrip airfare to and from the country of destination, a stipend of US$2,500 to cover trip expenses and another US$2,500 payment after submission of final deliverables. The Mwalimu Nyerere African Union Scholarship Scheme encourages the participation of young African refugees and internally displaced persons at postgraduate level, for Masters and PhD programmes in the fields of Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Health, Education, Engineering, and Social Sciences. Candidates must be under 35 years and have proof of admission to undertake a full time Masters program at a recognized university of an African Union Member State. European Commission — Horizon Prize for Clean Engines
The European Commission invites applications to the ‘Horizon Prize for the Cleanest Engine of the Future’. The prize not only aims at improving air quality, but also at contributing to the greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets agreed at COP21, as well as to increase energy efficiency. The contest is open to all legal entities (i.e. natural or legal persons) or groups of legal entities. The total prize amount is €3.5 million. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to support stories focused on monitoring and investigating the illegal wildlife trade in Europe. Typical grant sizes for this project are in the range of US$4 thousand to US$6 thousand (in special cases up to US$10 thousand). The Innovate Green Competition (IGC) is a cooperative initiative that aims to stimulate entrepreneurship within university students in the MENA region. The African Academy of Sciences (AAS), the UK Department for International Development (DFID) Weather and Climate information SERvices for Africa (WISER) and the Africa Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) announce an initiative to support Africa-led climate science research through the Climate Research for Development (CR4D) in Africa initiative. CR4D will award 1-year research grants to 15 African climate researchers of up to US$130 thousand. The Ecology Department at the Biology Center of the Czech Academy of Science and the Zoology Department of the University of South Bohemia invite PhD applicants to join a project exploring plant-herbivore interactions in the lowland rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The selected candidate will live in Czech Republic, conduct field work in New Guinea, and carry out the chemistry analysis with collaborators in Germany, Finland and the US.
