The TWAS Visiting Expert Programme supports visits of internationally renowned scientists to research institutions located in developing countries, especially least-developed countries. Only persons who have attained international recognition in their fields of science will be considered for support. Nominations of women are particularly welcome. Save Our Seas Foundation — Ocean Storytelling Photography Grant
The Save Our Seas Foundation (SOS) seeks photographers who tell conservation stories about the oceans. The call is not limited underwater photography. Story topics can range from the animals themselves, to fisheries to the communities whose lives are intertwined with marine life. Four successful grantees will receive a fully-funded assignment to shoot a conservation photo story on location, under direct mentorship from professional photographers from National Geographic. Award includes US$2 thousand cash prize, day rate for 3 to 4-week shoot, a year of mentorship, and logistical costs for shoot covered. SOS seeks to support early-career storytellers, therefore, applicants must have no more than 5 years of professional experience in any photography related discipline. Ocean Conservation Trust — Small Grants for Conservation Projects
The Ocean Conservation Trust offers small grants to organizations or individuals that deliver conservation projects. Projects can be research-based, educational or community events but must contribute towards a healthy Ocean. There is no geographical restriction on where projects might be located. African Development Bank — Mo Ibrahim Foundation Fellowship 2024
The Mo Ibrahim Foundation financially supports the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship position in the African Development Bank. The Fellowship allows talented individuals to increase and enhance their professional capacity, with the intention of contributing to the governance and development of their countries. The priority for the 2024 selection of the Mo Ibrahim Fellow includes energy (“powering Africa”); agriculture (“feeding Africa”); and others. Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities — Environmental Arts Scholarship
Scottish Graduate School for Arts & Humanities EARTH Scholarship enables international research collaborations between PhD and early-career researchers and Scottish universities. The program aims to promote the role of environmental arts in addressing the climate emergency and their capacity for interdisciplinary research within STEAM contexts. The program will provide scholarships for researchers based outside the UK to come to Scotland to undertake in-person exchanges for up to 3 months in 2024. Natural Environment Research Council — Independent Research Fellowship 2023
The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funds researchers seeking to conduct their own environmental research within an eligible host organization in the UK. NERC supports fellows undertaking research across the breadth of the NERC remit within environmental sciences, including: freshwater, earth, atmospheric, marine and terrestrial sciences, earth observation, and polar science. The total available funding is £7.2 million. This opportunity is open to applicants who hold a PhD qualification. The fellowship covers 80% full economic cost for five years. The Prince Talal International Prize for Human Development supports efforts aiming at the promotion and enhancement of human development concepts. The objective is to highlight the innovative experiences and continuously support the distinguished efforts in various fields of development (including, but not limited to, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Climate Action, and Zero Hunger).
