The Indianapolis Prize recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the sustainability of an animal species or group of species. The winner receives US$250 thousand, while five finalists each receive US$10 thousand. To be nominated, applicants must have accomplished an individual achievement or series of achievements that have resulted in a demonstrable positive impact on an animal species or group of species that is likely to improve long-term sustainability. Paul K. Feyerabend Foundation — Community and Solidarity
The PKF Foundation makes grants in support of grassroots conservation, land and resource rights of indigenous and local communities, and traditional knowledge in managing natural resources. PKF’s projects focus heavily on communities in developing countries. PKF works through a network of nominators. Grant seekers approach the Foundation through these nominators. Rescued Tools Foundation — Tools and Small Equipment for Grassroots Groups in Africa
The Rescued Tools Foundation (Stichting Gered Gereedschap) collects and refurbishes discarded tools and small items of equipment in the Netherlands for the benefit of recipients in Sub-Saharan Africa. The priority countries are Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania and Ghana. Nagao Natural Environment Foundation — Nature Conservation Scholarships for Students from Asia
The NEF Scholarship Scheme financially supports university students from Southeast Asia that study nature conservation (e.g., biology, botany, forestry, etc.) at selected universities and institutes in Indonesia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and the Philippines. Furthermore, scholarship recipients can attend the NEF Student International Workshop. Participants attend lectures, present their own research, visit research facilities, and practice research skills in the field related to nature conservation. Institute of International Education — Scholar Rescue Fund
The IIE Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) provides fellowships for professors, researchers, and public intellectuals who face threats to their lives and careers in their home countries. Fellows will receive temporary academic positions at institutions of higher learning anywhere in the world where they can continue their work in safety. Professors, senior researchers, and public intellectuals from any country, academic field, or discipline may qualify. The Global Fund for Community Foundation (GFCF) accepts concept notes aimed at strengthening and supporting community philanthropy approaches. Projects may focus on mobilizing local resources and/or foster the growth of local philanthropy for progressive social change. The Pollination Project — Animal Welfare Grants
The Pollination Project (TPP) launches the Animal Welfare Grants Program to support individuals and groups who are working to protect farmed animals. TPP funds projects that aim to reduce the consumption of animals, advocate for farmed animal welfare and raise awareness around farmed animal cruelty. The Pollination Project supports individuals and groups with US$1,000. Grants are open for anyone in the world, but applications from people in Brazil, India, and Mexico are especially welcome.
