ShEquity — Business Accelerator for African Women

ShEquity and MBC Africa launch the ShEquity Business Accelerator (SHEBA) Program to support to African female entrepreneurs with scalable businesses in agribusiness, healthcare, technology, renewable energies, and fast-moving consumer goods. SHEBA will select 30 women to provide business development, financial management; strategy consulting, and networking opportunities. Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Lebanon

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Lebanon. The priorities under this call include the environment. The average contribution is C$20 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. European Commission — Adapting Water Quality Management to a New Climate

The European Commission invites applications for early stage researcher PhD studentships on the Marie Skłodowska-Curie action (MSCA) European Training Network inventWater (Inventive forecasting tools for adapting water quality management to a new climate) program. The program offers a full time employment contract for 36 months (with the possibility to extend to 48 months) at a competitive salary. A total of 15 PhD positions at 10 different institutions across eight European countries are available. Applicants should be in the first four years of their research careers and not yet have been awarded a doctorate. The initial deadline for applications is 22 April 2021. International Development Research Centre — Gender in STEM Research Initiative

Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) announces a new funding opportunity to advance gender analysis and women’s leadership in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. This initiative will support university-led consortia to expand and deepen scholarship in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in Africa, on the challenges and opportunities that women scientists experience in STEM fields. IDRC will provide CA$1 million to CA$1.25 million per research consortium. The call is open to public universities from low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia, or Latin America/Caribbean. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — Skill Development of Women

Nuffic announces a grant program to develop and strengthen the skills of women and young girls. The program is aimed at professionals and organizations that provide education and training within the priority themes of the Dutch government (Water, Food and Nutrition Security, Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights, and Security and Rule of Law). Grants can be used for training initiatives and capacity building programs that address specifically the needs of women. The maximum subsidy is €75 thousand per tailor-made training. The call is open to the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen. Climate Tracker — Stories about Female Environmentalists

Climate Tracker seeks stories about female environmental activists. The project “Defenders of Territory” will select 12 women who are defenders of the environment in Latin America. Climate Tracker looks for young journalists from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay, who write stories about women from local communities and their struggle to defend their land. Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship — Climate Resilience Asia Pacific Accelerator

The Miller Center seeks applications for an online accelerator program focused on innovations that address the poor, who are suffering disproportionately from climate change in the areas of: affordable and reliable access to modern energy, sustainable management of water and sanitation, and climate-smart agriculture. The program does not provide financial assistance but offers mentorship and capacity building. It is designed for established social entrepreneurs that directly serve people living in poverty. Non-profit, for-profit, or hybrid social enterprises that have a clear commitment to an earned revenue model with the potential for scale are all encouraged to apply. This program is open to entrepreneurs from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Applications for the online program cohort are due by 26 April 2021. Student Energy — Greenpreneurs

Greenpreneurs supports young people to foster a generation of climate and development leaders that work collaboratively to implement green solutions. The program features virtual webinars, mentorship and weekly tasks supplemented with online resources. The top three participating teams will win US$5 thousand per team in seed funding to get their initiative started. European Union — Agricultural Infrastructure in Lebanon

The European Union seeks to enhance resilient livelihoods and food security of host communities and Syrian refugees in Jordan and Lebanon through the promotion of sustainable agricultural development. The grants will support agricultural land reclamation, construction of concrete or earth water reservoirs, in addition to other complementary works. U.S. National Academy of Sciences — Collaborative Applied Research

Partnerships for Enhanced Engagement in Research (PEER) invites researchers in Bhutan to apply for funds to support research and capacity-building activities. PEER will fund collaborative applied research projects within the environment, energy, and public health sectors. The funded projects are conducted in collaboration with researchers based in the United States. The program awards up to US$70 thousand per research team. The application deadline is 03 May 2021.
