European Commission — Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in European Overseas Territories

The EC funds the program Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in European Overseas Territories (BEST) in order to fund actions on the ground, both at the local and regional level. BEST 2.0 is open to applications for projects in the overseas territories of the Caribbean, Pacific, South Atlantic, Indian Ocean, and Polar/Sub-polar regions. Small grants are up to €100 thousand; medium grants are €100 thousand to €400 thousand. Potential applicants include local civil society organisations; small for-profit organisations; municipalities; OT governments and their departments and services; European Member State bodies; and regional and international organisations. The deadline to submit concept notes is 14 April 2017. Link

AuthorAID — Online Course on Grant Proposals and Research Writing

AuthorAID announces an open and free online course to help early-career researchers in developing countries improve their research writing and proposal development. Topics in the course will include literature review; publication ethics; making a research plan; writing a grant proposal; targeting the right journals; and writing and publishing a research paper. The online course will span eight weeks from April through June 2017. The deadline for registration is 18 April 2017. Link

United Nations University — ProSPER.Net Leadership Program 2017

The UNU Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability is the Secretariat for ProSPER.Net (Promotion of Sustainability in Postgraduate Education and Research Network) in the Asia-Pacific region. The ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme helps its participants to develop interdisciplinary skills for sustainable development initiatives in local, regional, or global contexts. The fifth leadership program will be convened in Thailand in June-July 2017. The deadline for applications is 20 April 2017. Link

Lincoln Institute of Land Policy — Fellowships on Land Policy and Urban Development in Latin America

The Program on Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy invites applications for its 2017 thesis fellowships. Fellowships will be awarded in the amounts of US$5 thousand for master’s theses, and US$10 thousand for doctoral theses, to students at universities in Latin America and North America who are in the mid to final stages of their thesis work. Thematic areas include one on environment and climate change. The deadline for applications (Spanish, English) is 24 April 2017. Link

U.S. Agency for International Development — Reforestation in Haiti

The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) calls for applications for a five-year project to address environmental degradation and loss of tree cover in Haiti. The objective is to provide environmental services in targeted forest areas in support of food security and resilience. IUCN-Oceania — Small Grants for Energy in the Pacific Islands

The Energy Small Grants Programme provides funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency in participating countries of the Oceania region. These energy projects should be coupled with strong linkages to biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. Applications are invited from communities, civil society organisations, and private enterprises. The participating countries are Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. Funding is up to US$20 thousand. The deadline for applications is 01 June 2017. Link

United States – India Educational Foundation — Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships

The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships are for Indian scholars who are registered for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. The fellowships are for six to nine months at institutions in the USA in fields that include agricultural sciences; energy studies; urban and regional planning (with emphasis on smart cities and waste management); materials science (with emphasis on environmental applications); and others.  The application deadline is 15 June 2017.  Link

Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance — Awards for Social Enterprise 2017

Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance (seif) supports individuals and teams that apply innovative business ideas to address current social and/or environmental problems. Categories include agriculture; food and nutrition; environment; energy; water and sanitation; and others. The competition is open to social enterprises from all over Europe. The program will make four awards of CHF 10 thousand each. The application deadline is 30 June 2017. Link

Wildlife Conservation Network — Networking Opportunities

Each year, the WCN organizes conservation events (expos) in the USA, where wildlife conservationists discuss issues about endangered species around the world. Non-profit organizations are able to request free exhibition space at these events, offering them opportunities for networking and publicity. The remaining expo in 2017 will be held in San Francisco in October. Applications for exhibition space will be accepted through 15 July 2017. Link

Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund — Protection of Migratory Waterbirds

Administered by WWF Hong Kong, the Asian Waterbirds Conservation Fund supports the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their wetland habitats in the East Asian – Australasian flyway. Grants are up to US$5 thousand per program or project. The application deadline is 31 October of each year. Link
