InfoNile — Editors’ Biodiversity Program

InfoNile invites applications from editors from Uganda for an editors’ biodiversity training program. In addition to training with biodiversity and journalism experts, the program will incorporate field visits to conservation projects and natural sites. The workshop will have a focus on reporting on wildlife trafficking and poaching. After the training, editors will pair up with reporters in their media houses to report an in-depth story on biodiversity and/or wildlife trafficking to be published in their media houses, supported by small story grants. Earth Journalism Network — Scholarships to Cover Biodiversity Conferences

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) provides travel grants to journalists interested in attending and reporting from conferences and global summits related to biodiversity issues. To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be a professional journalist from or representing an established media house and reporting from a low- or middle-income country. EJN expects to award scholarships of up to US$2,500 each. Applications for conference scholarships will be accepted until 06 January 2023. More here

Mekong Commons — Writing Workshop

Mekong Commons invites applications for our 3-day online writeshop to be held in February 2023. Selected applicants will receive a grant to participate in the online workshop to learn about writing engaging stories, and to plan, research and finish their article about current environmental and development topics in the Mekong Region. Global Water Partnership-Caribbean — Water Resource Capacity Building

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean invites project proposals for the implementation of small-scale integrated water and wastewater management capacity building projects in the Caribbean. Funding of US$5 thousand per grant will be awarded to successful applicants, for the execution of capacity building programs with a maximum of five months in duration. Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop in India

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites journalists from India to apply for a media workshop on covering pathways to Net Zero, to be held in Kolkata (February 2023). The workshop will help journalists improve their understanding of the energy transition, and learn how to report more effectively on climate change. Earth Journalism Network — Stop Spillover Media Grants

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to media organizations to support capacity-building activities for media and journalists related to understanding and preventing zoonotic viral spillover. EJN is particularly interested in projects that help journalists use data and the latest scientific research in their reporting. Applications are open to traditional news media, broadcast media, development media, new media and independent media outlets from the following countries: Liberia, Sierra Leone, Côte d’Ivoire, Bangladesh, Cambodia and Vietnam. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) invites Indigenous journalists from around the world to apply for a two-day media workshop (Kenya, February 2023). The workshop will explain the importance of Indigenous environmental reporting and build valuable journalistic skills to help participants strengthen their reporting and storytelling skills. The workshop is open to Indigenous journalists from any country interested in covering Indigenous environmental issues. International Water Resources Association — World Water Envoys

The International Water Resources Association (IWRA) invites applications for the World Water Envoys Program. Water Envoys will have the opportunity to participate in the 18th edition of the IWRA World Water Congress (China, September 2023) to discuss water issues and potential solutions. Envoys will be funded to come to Beijing, including economy round-trip, accommodation, full registration to the Congress, and one-year free membership to IWRA. Association of Commonwealth Universities — Early-Career Conference Grants

Early-career conference grants support emerging academics so they can take part in conferences that can have a profound impact on their teaching and research. This year’s grants are being offered for both virtual (online) and in-person conferences. Virtual conference grants cover the conference registration fee of up to £600 and a data grant of £50 for applicants who do not have reliable access to Wi-Fi. In-person conference grants are a maximum of £2,000 to cover conference registration fees, flights, accommodation and other travel related costs.
