Canadian International Development Research Center — Women’s Participation in Science

The IDRC aims to increase the participation of women and other underrepresented groups in STEM fields by eliminating or reducing systemic barriers. The available budget per grant is between CA$200 thousand and CA$500 thousand. This call is open to research institutions, consortia, or non-governmental organizations with a strong presence in eligible low and middle-income countries. The regions of research focus are Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia, LAC, and Sub-Saharan Africa. The submission deadline is 15 August 2019. Find the call

British Council — Small Grants for Research Collaboration with South Asia

The British Council Small-Scale Research Project Scheme provides funding (up to £5 thousand) for early-career researchers in the UK and countries in South Asia. The funding is intended for collaborative research projects in the theme water (e.g. water resource management, water health and sanitation, water cooperation and diplomacy), among others. Partnerships must be formed between a UK university/research institute and a university/research institute in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, or Sri Lanka. European Commission — Entrepreneurship for Food Security in Honduras

The European Commission seeks to promote entrepreneurs (startups) with innovative solutions that improve the food and nutritional security in Honduras. Priority areas include mitigating the negative effects of climate change and unsustainable use of energy and natural resources. The grant amount requested under this call must be €826 thousand. U.S. Department of State — U.S.-ASEAN Water Smart Exchanges

The U.S. Office of Conservation and Water seeks US applicants for the U.S.-ASEAN Smart Cities Partnership Water-Smart Exchanges (WiSE) program. The Program will pair cities in the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) with counterparts in the United States to expand the adoption of new technologies and innovative approaches to improve the management of water resources. ASCN participants will tour U.S. locations to study water management practices and technology innovations. One single award of up to US$1.4 million is available for an initial project period of three years. Eligibility is limited to U.S. non-profit organizations and educational institutions. U.S. Department of State — Equal Access to Jobs for Women in Agriculture

The EQUAL Project – Colombia provides funding to one technical assistance project in Colombia to economically empower vulnerable women and girls within the agricultural sector. The objective of the project is to reduce the risk of child labor, forced labor, and other violations of labor rights. Applicants may apply for up to US$5 million. U.S. Embassy Vientiane — YSEALI Regional Workshop: Agri-Biz Incubator

The U.S. Embassy Vientiane invites applications from organizations to carry out a five-day workshop in Laos on on agriculture-related entrepreneurship (agri-biz) for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI). The workshop will focus on building theoretical and practical knowledge about responsible, sustainable and environmentally sound agri-biz initiatives in Southeast Asia. Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs — Danida Market Development Partnerships 2019

Danida Market Development Partnerships promote the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Focusing on SDG 8, the main objective is to promote sustainable local economic growth and employment in developing countries in agriculture, energy, and other sectors. Applications are invited from consortia that include a business partner and an administrative partner, and possibly including additional partners from civil society, government, universities, etc. The program is available in Denmark’s priority countries for development assistance, and in selected other countries below the World Bank limit of lower-middle income countries that have a Danish representation. DMDP has a budget of DKK 100 million in 2019 for 10-12 partnerships. Danida’s support to the partnership project may cover up to 75% of total project costs. IC-IMPACTS — Smart Cities

IC-IMPACTS and the Department of Science & Technology (DST) of the Government of India invite proposals for the Cyber-Physical Systems to Support Green Buildings in Smart Cities. Projects under this call should aim at developing sensors, cyber-physical interfaces and solutions for energy reduction, net zero energy, carbon neutrality, reduced water usage, water harvesting, and on-site treatment, as well as to instigate other benefits for smarter and more sustainable buildings. Canadian and Indian researchers are eligible to be funded in the collaborative research. Projects can be submitted both to IC-IMPACTS or DST by 31 May 2019. More info

Climate Chance — Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019

Climate Chance opens the call for proposals for the Climate Chance Summit Africa 2019. The call is open to local authorities, businesses, NGOs, trade unions, scientists, representatives from agricultural, youth, women and indigenous organisations, educators and citizens. Initiatives corresponding to many themes will be considered: Access to climate finance in Africa; Developing African cities in a sustainable way; Agriculture, food and reforestation in Africa; Renewable energy and energy efficiency in Africa; Adaptation and Water in Africa; Education and Training on Climate Change in Africa; and others.
