The Regional Studies Association (RSA) covers issues in the fields of climate change, energy, migration, and economic development. RSA makes travel grants of up to £500 to its members to present their work, network and participate in non-RSA events. (Note: non-members are encouraged to apply and join RSA). Asia New Zealand Foundation — Capacity Building for Agribusiness Entrepreneurs
The Asia New Zealand Foundation and the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs offer young Southeast Asian agribusiness entrepreneurs the opportunity to visit New Zealand. Applicants will learn about the New Zealand agriculture business environment, meet and network with entrepreneurs and business leaders, and attend New Zealand’s leading agribusiness event, Fieldays. Applicants must be entrepreneurs or business leaders at CEO or senior management level involved in agriculture from an ASEAN country. The Asia New Zealand Foundation will cover the costs of participating in the capacity building program (airfare, accommodation, meals, etc.). Applications close 20 February 2020. More here
International Livestock Research Institute — Africa Biosciences Challenge Fund
The Biosciences eastern and central Africa (BecA) Hub awards research fellowships to African agricultural researchers for short-term projects (6 month) at the BecA-ILRI Hub in Nairobi. Research projects should be aligned with crops and livestock agricultural development priorities (identified in the announcement). Candidates should be currently engaged in agricultural research and be affiliated with a national agricultural research system in the eligible countries: Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda. Under special partnership and collaboration arrangements, applicants from other African countries are considered for the fellowship. São Paulo Research Foundation — International Research Collaboration
The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) offers seed funding to support the exchange of researchers under the program “São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration” (SPRINT). The 4th call seeks collaborations with selected partner research organizations in Argentina, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, United States, and New Zealand. The fields of joint research interest include environment, energy, and others — varying with each partnership. FAPESP also considers proposals from institutions that do not currently have an agreement with FAPESP if these institutions can present matching funds. The deadline for proposals is 27 January 2020. MaRINET2 — Access to Ocean Energy Research Infrastructures
MaRINET2 is working towards unlocking the energy potential of our oceans. The transnational access program offers free-of-charge access to the research and testing facilities of the MaRINET2 network. MaRINET2 provides a contribution of €1000 per week towards travel and subsistence expenses. In 2020 one period of access with a 6-month duration will be organised. Society of Chemical Industry — Travel Bursaries
The Society of Chemical Industry awards travel bursaries to young PhD students. There are various schemes available, some related to agriculture and life sciences. Applicants will have preference if they wish to travel outside their country of residence, especially if they wish to work in a laboratory abroad. Next deadline cycle for the AJ Banks Award (Food Science), and the Messel Award (Chemical Science, including all life sciences) is 31 March 2020. Link
EarthCorps — Crew Member International Program 2020
EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental training program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as invasive plant removal and control, native plant installation (planting), restoration site maintenance, trail construction/maintenance, volunteer management, and erosion control. The Crew Member Program is a 6-month learning experience for non-U.S. citizens, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, USA. Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodation with host families. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by 31 December 2019. Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture — Faculty and Student Mobility Grant
The SEARCA Faculty and Student Mobility Grant enables grantees to conduct their research work or take courses at selected Southeast Asian universities. The Faculty Mobility Grant is intended for regular employees of academic or research institutions, or government agencies. The Student Mobility Grant is open to ongoing graduate students at Southeast Asian universities. The applicant’s areas of specialization must be in the field of sustainable agricultural and rural development. Eligibility extends to nationals from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, or Vietnam. The North-South Cooperation of the University of Zurich (UZH) awards up to three grants per semester for mobility students from universities in the Global South (eligible countries are listed in the announcement).
