Cheng-Long Wetlands — International Environmental Art Project 2017
The Cheng-Long Wetlands are located in a rural area on the south-central coast of Taiwan. To call attention to the changing global environment, with a particular focus on conservation of the Cheng-Long Wetlands, artists from all countries are invited to send a proposal for a site-specific outdoor sculpture that will raise public awareness and enlist people to take action. Selected artists will receive NT$60 thousand (about US$2 thousand), airfare, accommodations, food, local transportation, volunteer help, and free local natural and recycled materials. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency — Grants to U.S. Universities for Research on Global Sustainability 2017
The EPA’s 14th annual P3 Awards (People, Prosperity, and the Planet) will fund research projects in water and wastewater, energy, built environment, materials and chemicals, and reduced food waste. Grants are up to US$15 thousand for one year (Phase I). Winners in Phase I will be eligible to apply for larger grants to follow. Central European University — Visiting Fellowships 2017-2018
Central European University (CEU) announces two Visiting Fellowship Programs in academic year 2017-18. The Faculty Development Fellowship is available to applicants from selected academic institutions in Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, and Myanmar. The Research Excellence Fellowship is offered to academics employed in higher education institutions and/or academic research institutions in any country of the “Global South.” The subjects for fellows include environmental studies and energy studies — among many others. Eligible applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent, and should be nationals of eligible developing countries. Fellowships cover travel costs, accommodation, and a monthly stipend. World Wildlife Fund — Conservation Leadership in Mozambique and Myanmar 2017
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF-U.S.), through its Education for Nature program, offers special grants to build capacity for conservation leadership in Mozambique and Myanmar. The Russell E. Train Fellowships provide support for conservationists in Mozambique and Myanmar to pursue graduate-level study anywhere in the world with the goal of advancing conservation in both countries. Applicants may request up to US$30 thousand per year for up to two years. The application deadline is 01 March 2017. 10YFP Trust Fund — Sustainable Food Systems
The 10YFP Sustainable Food Systems Program aims to accelerate the shift towards more sustainable food systems in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. The program focuses on awareness raising, capacity development, facilitating access to knowledge and information, and strengthening partnerships all along the food value chain. Preference is for projects that have complementary funding, and projects being implemented in multiple countries. Grants are US$50 thousand to US$80 thousand for Immediate Action Projects; grants are US$100 thousand to US$200 thousand for Strategic Impact Projects. With funding provided by the U.S. Department of State, the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is offering an Environmental Sustainability Professional Fellows Program for 50 professionals from Southeast Asia (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam). Additionally, the program will select 10 participants from the USA. The fellowships will build the capacity of young leaders to address local environmental sustainability challenges related to climate change, sustainable energy, and environmental justice. Each fellow will spend four weeks working with a local government, organization, or company in the USA — concluding with a final program in Washington, DC.
