Teams or individually are invited to create lasting solutions to Southeast Asia’s pressing problems in the themes of “Energy Transitions”, “Future of Food & Agriculture”, and “Circular Economy.” Candidates have to be 18-35 years old. UNESCO World Heritage Centre — World Heritage Volunteers Youth Campaign
The UNESCO World Heritage Centre announces the Call for Projects for the World Heritage Volunteers (WHV) Campaign 2020. The WHV encourages young people to undertake concrete actions and to play an active role in the protection, preservation and promotion of World Heritage sites. Legally registered public or private organisations and institutions are invited to submit a project proposal for practical, hands-on workshops with youth focus. Each organisation is eligible to apply for a maximum of 4 projects to be carried out at different World Heritage sites. Projects should have a minimum 10 day duration and involve as much international volunteers as possible. Applications have to be submitted by 19 January 2020. Link to instructions
European Union — Developing Business Opportunities for African Countries
ARCHIPELAGO is a 4-year European program with the aim to support the growth of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Africa. The program supports partnership projects in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, and Senegal. Each selected project will receive a grant of between €400 thousand and €500 thousand. Each project proposal must be submitted by a consortium consisting of at least two partners (one from Africa and one from the EU). Applications may be submitted by business support organisations (such as chambers and business associations), training centres or other entities which specialize in activities related to vocational training and/or business development services. United Nations University — Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships 2020
The United Nations University offers postdoctoral fellowships to young scholars and policymakers, especially from the developing world. The fellowship program is with the UNU’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS). The research themes include water and urban development; governance for sustainable development; and others. Fellowships are awarded for a period of 24 months. Eisenhower Fellowships’ Women’s Leadership Program seeks talented women leaders with a proven track record of achievement. The program will take place in the USA during seven weeks in October-November 2020. Fellows receive an intensive and individually-designed program in their professional field. University of East Anglia — International Development Excellence Scholarships for Brazil Students
The University of East Anglia invites applications for the International Development Excellence Scholarships for the academic year 2020/21 for students from Brazil. Acceptable masters degree subjects include agriculture and rural development, climate change and international development, environment and international development, amongst others. Eligibility extends to Brazilian citizens that have an undergraduate degree from a recognized university. The five scholarships offered range between £7,000 to £8,000 for successful candidates during their master’s studies in the UK. Kinship Foundation — Conservation Workshop
The Kinship Foundation invites participants to the Kinship Conservation Workshop in India. During the workshop, participants will learn how economic tools can be applied to enhance community-based conservation projects, study the successes and failures of incentive-based conservation in India, as well as globally, and be introduced to alternative pathways to achieve conservation impact. Applicants should be mid-career conservation practitioners from India with at least three years of field experience in natural resources management. Kinship Foundation will cover all workshop expenses, including lodging, food, classroom materials and field trips. EarthCorps — Crew Member International Program 2020
EarthCorps invites applications from emerging environmental leaders around the world to participate in an environmental training program in the USA. Participants from the USA and other countries take part in field projects such as invasive plant removal and control, native plant installation (planting), restoration site maintenance, trail construction/maintenance, volunteer management, and erosion control. The Crew Member Program is a 6-month learning experience for non-U.S. citizens, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, USA. Applicants should be 18-28 years of age, with a university degree in an environmental field (or equivalent work experience), and speak conversational English. International participants receive a living stipend, health insurance, and accommodation with host families. Priority consideration will be given to applications received by 31 December 2019. VLIR-UOS is the secretariat of Flemish universities for development cooperation, with funding by Belgian Development Cooperation. VLIR-UOS announces the International Training Programme on ‘eR-Biostat’ that will take place at Hasselt University, Belgium. The program aims to train the participants in using and developing a new E-learning system in Biostatistics/Statistics.
