Sustainable Mekong Research Network — Rapid Response Grants

The Sustainable Mekong Research Network (SUMERNET) seeks to reduce water insecurity for the poor, marginalized and socially vulnerable groups in the Mekong Region. SUMERNET will provide up to two grants to collaborative research projects that focus on water access; governance and management of water-related disaster risks; and transboundary interactions with water systems. The proposed project must cover the whole Mekong region or at least two countries in the study area. Funding support will not exceed US$ 45 thousand per research project to be completed within 6-12 months. The Lead Applicant must be a formal SUMERNET network member. Caribbean Policy Development Centre — Sustainable Livelihoods in Vulnerable Communities

The Caribbean Policy Development Centre seeks partners to implement a project to strengthen the enabling environment for Caribbean NGOs to provide essential developmental services to vulnerable communities by improving access to resources and increasing institutional capacity building opportunities post-COVID 19. Applicants are encouraged to include specific activities in their actions to increase livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Grant requests must fall between US$10 thousand and US$12 thousand. To be eligible, the applicant must be non-profit-making and be a legally registered and established organization in the Caribbean States: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and Grenadines. Africa Solar Industry Association — Solar Awards

The AFSIA Solar Awards celebrate exceptional talent in the African solar market. AFSIA seeks solar applications, for example, large-scale solar park or solar home systems, grid-connected and off-grid systems, and solar-powered applications such as street lighting, solar irrigation, refrigeration or cook stoves. The Awards intend to recognize companies and individuals that have contributed to promoting and advancing the use of solar across Africa. Applications close on 24 September 2021. AFSIA Solar Awards

Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources — Capacity Building Program

The Asia Network for Sustainable Agriculture and Bioresources (ANSAB) invites civil society organizations from Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam to submit their expression of interest for possible funding to implement sub-projects. The objective of the proposal should be to strengthen the knowledge of targeted CSOs at local and national levels through trainings, workshops, awareness campaigns, and local meetings. Capacity building activities should enable participants to understand the impacts of climate change on local communities and locally-based sustainable livelihoods. Anticipated funding for each sub-project is US$90 thousand for 9 months. Proposed activities are to be implemented in Fiji, Nepal and Vietnam for the benefit of local communities. IHEA Foundation — Sustainable Management of Resources and Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Development

The Specializing Master aims to strengthen transversal knowledge and support African Universities by contributing to upgrading their staff and nurturing a qualified generation of skilled young researchers and lecturers. The program is designed around 6 didactic modules (1 intro module, 2 transversal modules, 3 technical modules). The course is designed for young talents with an academic perspective: young lecturers and junior researchers. Scholarships covering the entire cost of the Master will be available for 35 applicants. Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Protecting Biodiversity of the East Melanesian Islands

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites applications for small grants (up to US$20 thousand) in support of biodiversity conservation in the East Melanesian Islands. Eligibility for funding extends to community groups and associations, NGOs, private enterprises, universities, research institutes, and other civil society organizations. TREE Fund — Tree and Soil Research Fund

The Tree and Soil Research Grant offers funding up to US$10 thousand during 1-3 years to support areas of research of interest to the landscape architecture community with special focus in the area of trees and the soils that support them. The Fund welcomes research proposals and applications from a wide range of academic and technical disciplines, of both a qualitative and a quantitative nature. European Union — Youth Awards for Climate Storytelling

The EU GCCA+ Youth Awards support young journalists, writers and photographers to tell powerful climate stories around the world. Individuals between 18 and 30 years can participate with a video or a story with photos about climate change cooperation, preferably related to an EU-funded project in their country. Five award winners will be able to participate in a 6 weeks masterclass with leading climate reporters and activists. The deadline for registration and submission is 22 September 2021. IHE Delft Institute for Water Education — Online Course: Fundamentals of Freshwater Health

IHE Delft and Conservation International launch an open online course on freshwater health. The course explores fundamental aspects of each of these topics through interactive lectures, relevant readings and practical exercises. Participants completing the fundamentals course will also become eligible for a more advanced course beginning in early 2022. The course is free and available.
