The Marine Turtle Conservation Fund (MTCA) accepts proposals for the conservation of priority nesting populations of six of the seven species of marine turtles (Chelonia mydas, Caretta caretta, Dermochelys coriacea, Eretmochelys imbricata, Lepidochelys olivacea, Lepidochelys kempii) throughout their range worldwide. The fund provides financial support for projects that conserve nesting populations and habitat and address other threats to the survival of marine turtles in range countries. Applicants may request between US$25 to US$200 thousand. Applicants can be individuals; government agencies; non-profit organizations; for-profit organizations; or universities. Imperial College London — Nature-based Solutions to Global Water Security
The Imperial College London seeks students to deliver a PhD project that will quantify the actual and potential contribution of nature-based solutions to global water security through a combination of field experiments in the tropical Andes and the UK. The student will be based in the Hydrology and Water Resources Laboratory at Imperial College London (UK). Studentships can provide funding for 3.5 years including tuition fees and a tax-free stipend. Through its program ‘Freigeist’ the Volkswagen Foundation seeks open-minded, strong and resistant young researchers with innovative ideas from all around the world. Impact-R — Energy, WASH and Food Security Nexus
Impact-Driven & Action-Based Research (Impact-R) invites microfinance institutions, NGOs, cooperatives, and technology providers with a strong social mission working in developing countries to conduct household data collection studies. The purpose of the studies is to investigate the nexus between access to energy, access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and food security, through a detailed needs/market assessment at the household level. Selected institutions will receive support for the field staff involved in the data collection and will have the opportunity to collaborate with leading research institutions. In addition, Impact-R will offer scholarships for desk research. Eligibility extends to institutions working in rural regions in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia. The FSNet-Africa fellowship provides grants to researchers (fellows or mentors) working on African food systems research. The Transforming Education for Sustainable Futures (TESF) Network Plus aims to assist education policy makers, institutions, community-based organizations and businesses to implement education policies and practices that can contribute to environmentally sustainable development. Global Development Network — Biodiversity and Development Award
The Global Development Network (GDN) and the French Development Agency (AFD) launch the AFD-GDN Biodiversity and Development Award. The program creates an opportunity for researchers based in select developing countries to produce and disseminate quality research and policies relevant to create the link between biodiversity and development. The program consists of four individual research grants of up to US$40 thousand for a 24-month project and two additional multidisciplinary grants of up to US$15 thousand. The National Geographic Society provides funding for projects focused on how humanity and the natural world have reacted to and are living through the unparalleled circumstances created by COVID-19.
