Association of Field Ornithologists — Sponsored Latin American Memberships

The Association of Field Ornithologists will provide one-year membership awards to qualified Latin American Ornithologists. These awards are restricted to individuals based in Latin America (including the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America). Members have access to information and networking opportunities in the field of ornithology. Applications are available in English and Spanish. Applications have to be submitted by 15 October of each year. Know more

International Marine Animal Trainers Association — Research Grants

The International Marine Animal Trainers Association (IMATA) provides financial support for investigations which advance the humane care and handling of marine animals by fostering communication between professionals that serve marine animal science through training, public display, research, husbandry, conservation, and education. Grants of up to US$3 thousand are for projects of one year. The Principal Investigator or co-PI must be a member of IMATA. The association accepts proposals all year. Link

Sea Pact — Funding for Fisheries and Aquaculture

Sea Pact is a consortium of seafood companies to support continuous improvements of fisheries and aquaculture in an international context. Sea Pact accepts applications from non-profit and for-profit organizations. Past grant recipients include conservation organizations, marine research organizations, development NGOs, and others. Swedish Research Council — Sustainability and Resilience Research

The Swedish Research Council funds research projects of particular relevance to the fight against poverty and for sustainable development in least developed countries. Up to 6 researchers can propose a joint research project. At least one researcher from a least developed or lower middle income country must participate. The grant amount will fall between SEK 400 thousand and SEK 2 million per year for a maximum of 3 years. The closing date for applications is 23 May 2023. Link

United Nations University — Research Fellowship in Biotechnology

United Nations University accepts applications for the Biotechnology Fellowship Program to build biotechnology capacities within Latin America and the Caribbean region. Each UNU-BIOLAC fellow is expected to perform specialized research at a laboratory in the LAC region for no more than three months. To perform their research fellowship, each funded fellow will receive a single stipend of US$4000 for travel and living expenses. University of St. Gallen — Research Partnership Grants 2023

Research Partnership Grants aim to strengthen or initiate scientific exchange between researchers from Swiss and Latin American institutions in all disciplines. These grants are particularly useful to develop joint project proposals to be submitted to large funding agencies in Latin America, Switzerland, and Europe or to combine already existing and independently funded projects. The Leading House invites scholars from Switzerland to propose mono- or interdisciplinary research projects in any Latin American country, involving bilateral or multilateral partnerships. Belmont Forum — Climate, Environment, and Health

The Belmont Forum welcomes transdisciplinary proposals that address the nexus of Climate, Environment, and Health. Proposals to the Belmont Forum must address one of the following four themes: Decision-science of environmental behavior and implementation; Food, Environment, and Biological Security; Climate Risks to Ecosystems & Populations. Belmont Forum — Climate and Cultural Heritage

The Belmont Forum welcomes proposals for collaborative research on cultural heritage and climate change, to foster collaboration among the research community across several regions. Proposals must address one of the following themes: the impact of climate change on cultural heritage; cultural heritage as a resource for climate mitigation and adaptation; or sustainable solutions for heritage. International Geosphere-Biosphere Program — PAGES Workshops and Educational Meetings

PAGES (Past Global Changes) supports research aimed at understanding the earth’s past environment in order to make predictions for the future. PAGES encourages international and interdisciplinary collaboration, including the participation of scientists from developing countries. The program offers funding to qualified organizers of workshops and educational meetings in support of PAGES objectives. World Academy of Sciences — TWAS-CSIR Postdoctoral Fellowships in India

India’s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) offers postdoctoral fellowships to young scientists from developing countries (other than India) to pursue postdoctoral research at CSIR’s laboratories and institutes. The duration of the fellowships is six to twelve months. Subject areas range across the physical and natural sciences, including agricultural sciences.
