European Commission — Sustainable Water and Natural Resources

The European Commission supports inclusive growth and resilience to extreme climate conditions in rural communities in Tajikistan, based on improved agriculture and sustainable use of water and natural resources. The EU invites projects that improve the added value of agricultural production and the management of natural resources, or promote the sustainable and efficient use of water. EIT Climate-KIC — Climate Action Citizen Engagement

The European Commission launches the design phase of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative. EIT Climate-KIC calls for climate innovation in public space through citizen engagement. Projects should mobilize citizen-driven initiatives and ideas all across-Europe and bring together cities, regions and social engagement innovators to empower civil society and drive climate action. EIT Climate-KIC will select three proposals and will grant a maximum of €30 thousand per proposal to develop a public space co-design activity in a city or region with civil society leadership. European Commission — Support to Water User Associations

European Commission seeks to improve the governance of water for agricultural, drinking and pastoral use in Madagascar. The priorities of this call for proposals are drinking water supply, pastoral hydraulic works, as well as water, hygiene and sanitation. The overall indicative amount made available is €1,3 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations established in a Member State of the European Union or Madagascar. The application deadline is 14 September 2021. Link

European Joint Programme — Sustainable Agricultural Soils

The Agence Nationale De La Recherche (ANR) and European Joint Programme (EJP) launch “Towards Healthy, Resilient and Sustainable Agricultural Soils”, an integrated framework for agricultural soil research in Europe. The objective is to foster holistic agricultural soil management practices which will assist in making a shift to diversify farming. The maximum project budget is €200 thousand. The countries participating in this call are: Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Russia, and the United Kingdom. Rainforest Alliance — Africa Cocoa Fund

The Rainforest Alliance’s Africa Cocoa Fund (ACF) is a three-year, US$5 million fund to support cocoa farmers and help preserve the local landscapes in West and Central Africa. The fund supports select sustainability projects of certified smallholder producer groups, cooperatives and farmers or vulnerable members. All projects must be driven by farmers and intend to create a positive impact for the longer term. Funding will support interventions that build the capacity of certified cocoa farmers. United States Agency for International Development — Papua New Guinea Sustainable Landscapes Activity

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission to the Philippines seeks applications from qualified organizations to carry out a five-year Papua New Guinea Sustainable Landscapes Activity. USAID aims to improve forest governance, increase the environmental sustainability of the forest industry, and protect the land and resource rights of local communities in order to reduce GHG emissions. USAID intends to make an award of US$16 million to the applicant who best meets the objectives of the funding opportunity. The closing date for the submission of concept papers is 07 July 2021. Link

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Updating Ecosystem Profile

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) seeks applications to update the ecosystem profile for Madagascar and the Indian Ocean Islands Biodiversity Hotspot to identify and prioritize Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) actions. A fundamental goal is to ensure civil society is engaged in biodiversity conservation. Total funding of up to US$80 thousand is available. CEPF accepts proposals from qualified organizations anywhere in the world, including non-governmental organizations, private companies and academic institutions. Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia — Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) accepts applications for the 12th Central Asian Leadership Program on Environment for Sustainable Development (CALP). The program provides knowledge and capacity to young leaders from government bodies and other stakeholders in order to enable their switching to Sustainable Consumption and Production in Central Asia and Afghanistan. CALP provides a neutral youth dialogue platform for discussing water cooperation, climate change, energy efficiency, as well as the coronavirus pandemic and its impact. CALP seeks participants that are representatives of civil society organizations, state, and academic sectors. Preference will be given to the applicants between the ages of 28 to 40. United Nations Development Programme — Pathfinder Award for Innovation in Nature Conservation

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites nominations for the Pathfinder Award. The Award recognizes outstanding and innovative solutions for protected and conserved areas from around the world. Nominations are invited from individuals and organizations. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service — Great Ape Conservation Fund (Africa)

The Great Ape Conservation Fund (Africa) is open to project proposals for the conservation of orangutans and gibbons throughout their ranges in Africa. Grants are for applied research, training, conservation management, community outreach, law enforcement, decreased human-wildlife conflicts, and other activities in conservation. About 15-20 grants will be awarded, ranging from US$50 thousand to a maximum of US$450 thousand. Eligibility for grants extends worldwide to qualified and relevant government agencies, other organizations, multi-national secretariats, and individuals. The application deadline is 30 July 2021.
