Well Aware — Water Projects in East Africa

Well Aware aims to help local communities in East Africa find sustainable solutions to address water scarcity and contamination. Well Aware aims to support its water projects with integrated project planning; technical evaluation; project oversight; promotion of partnerships; community training in sanitation and hygiene; and community empowerment. Rescued Tools Foundation — Tools and Small Equipment for Grassroots Groups in Africa

The Rescued Tools Foundation (Stichting Gered Gereedschap) collects and refurbishes discarded tools and small items of equipment in the Netherlands for the benefit of recipients in Sub-Saharan Africa. The priority countries are Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania and Ghana. The Foundation favors projects that offer opportunities for women, marginalized groups, co-operatives, and ecological awareness and environmental protection. World Land Trust — Land Purchase for Conservation

The Trust provides funding for the initial acquisition of land that has conservation importance. It also funds additional activities related to protection, biodiversity monitoring, education, outreach, habitat restoration, and species reintroduction. The Trust works with legally registered and experienced conservation NGOs based in developing countries. Qualified conservation organizations that seek to become partners prepare a project proposal that follows the Trust’s criteria. There is no calendar deadline. About Buy an Acre

Rufford Foundation — Grants for Nature Conservation

The Rufford Foundation makes grants for nature conservation undertaken by small and medium-sized organizations for projects in the developing world. The Foundation prefers projects that are pragmatic, and that have a significant human element. There are no restrictions by nationality or country of residence. Grant applications are made in sequential stages: first grant, second grant, booster grants, and completion grant. United Nations — Marine and Coastal Ecosystems

The SEA Grants program supports community-based conservation initiatives and research aimed at enhancing marine and coastal ecosystem management in the East Asian Seas region. Grants range from US$5,000 to US$50,000 for projects lasting 12 to 18 months. Eligible applicants include local organizations, NGOs, and community groups operating in countries participating in the SCS SAP. The application deadline is 15 May 2025. SEA Grants

Canada Fund for Local Initiatives — Community Projects in Zimbabwe, Botswana and Malawi

The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives supports small-scale, high-impact projects in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Malawi. The priorities under this call include women’s economic rights (which can include agriculture), environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management. The average contribution is C$35 thousand to C$50 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to local community organizations, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions. The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) invites proposals that meet the needs of local communities in Egypt. The priorities under this call include environment, climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, and water management. The average contribution is expected to be in the range of C$30 thousand to C$40 thousand per project. Eligibility extends to not-for-profit local, national, or community-based organizations. Global Biodiversity Information Facility — Biodiversity Information for Development: LAC

The Biodiversity Information for Development program aims to enhance capacity for effective mobilization and use of biodiversity data in support of decision- and policymaking for sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. GBIF offers support for two types of projects: (1) Institutional-level biodiversity data mobilization grants (maximum funding: €30 thousand for strengthening institutional capacity and mobilize policy-relevant biodiversity data); (2) Multi-institutional biodiversity data mobilization grants (maximum funding: €60 thousand to strengthen collaborations between institutions. Applicants must be legal entities such as research institutions, universities, museums, non-governmental organizations or government agencies located in Caribbean or Latin American countries.
