EJN plans to make 20 story grants of US$1,000 each to youth journalists aged 30 and below to produce innovative and engaging stories on environmental and climate issues in the region. Earth Journalism Network — Biodiversity Fellowships for Journalists
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) announces fellowships for journalists interested in attending and reporting from the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (December 2022). Eight journalists will be selected for the fellowship and receive resources and tools to help prepare for reporting at the conference. Journalists may produce stories in print, online, radio or broadcast formats. EJN will cover airfare, accommodation, meals, travel insurance, and transportation costs. Eligibility for this fellowship extends to professional journalists from low- or middle-income countries. Applications for conference scholarships will be accepted until 15 September 2022. Ocean Foundation — Opportunity for Young Writers
The Ocean Foundation (TOF) seeks to identify young writers between the ages of 13-25 to provide curriculum writing services for the production of a “youth ocean action toolkit” focused on the seven Ocean Literacy Principles and Marine Protected Areas. The Ocean Foundation will assemble a small team of youth authors. The authors will work with members of the TOF team to create the youth ocean action toolkit. Climate Tracker — Just and Sustainable Energy
Climate Tracker invited applications for collaborative grants on just and sustainable energy transition in Southeast Asia. Fellows will receive training and be mentored by journalists and experts on a just energy transition. Selected fellows will benefit from grants to fund their in field reporting and publication and a network of like-minded journalists across the region. Thomson Reuters Foundation — Reporting on Food Security and Rural Development in South Asia
The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites journalists from South Asia to participate in a workshop, which will cover food security, food production, markets and climate issues. The program will build the capacity of journalists to cover critical rural development issues and will help them produce stories that matter to their audiences. Earth Journalism Network — Story Grants on Renewable Energy in India
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers grants to boost reporting on renewable energy in India. ENJ will support the production of in-depth stories on the prospects, problems and pathways forward for renewable energy. In addition to funding, selected journalists will receive support from experienced mentors through the story production process. ENJ expects to award story grants with an average budget of US$1,200 each. Applications are open to India-based journalists and other expert media practitioners with a demonstrated interest in reporting on the renewable energy sector, or other topics related to energy and the environment. Global Water Partnership-Caribbean — Youth Workshop Caribbean
The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) invites applications to the workshop “To Save the Water…Let’s Talk About Shit”. The workshop will focus on the roles of Youth and the Media in Caribbean Wastewater Management. Participation is open to Caribbean Youth and Journalists residing in Caribbean countries. As part of the workshop, participants will also be given the opportunity to create social media content to raise awareness amongst the wider public. Takagi Fund — Citizen Science
The Takagi Fund for Citizen Science invites grant applications from groups and individuals in Asia pursuing “Citizen Science”. Research Grants may cover research and travel expenses, printing, as well as workshops or symposia to communicate research findings to the public. Training Grants are to support an individual receiving training at educational institutions, NGOs, research institutes and can be used to cover travel, accommodation, tuition or related costs. Earth Journalism Network — Stop Spillover Story Grants
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers story grants to journalists from Bangladesh, Cambodia, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Vietnam to report on viral zoonotic diseases and efforts to prevent their spillover from animals to humans. EJN aims to support the production of stories that raise awareness about viral zoonotic diseases and drive conversation among communities and policy makers. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio). Freelance reporters and staff reporters from international, national, local or community-based outlets are eligible.
