Flywire Charitable Foundation — Scholarship Program
The Flywire Charitable Foundation aims to improve equality, access and affordability for underrepresented individuals and communities. For the 2023 academic year, sixteen scholarships of US$5,000 each will be awarded. The Environmental Sustainability scholarship recognizes students who work to protect the environment and pioneer sustainability initiatives. United Nations University — Research Fellowship in Biotechnology
United Nations University accepts applications for the Biotechnology Fellowship Program to build biotechnology capacities within Latin America and the Caribbean region. Each UNU-BIOLAC fellow is expected to perform specialized research at a laboratory in the LAC region for no more than three months. To perform their research fellowship, each funded fellow will receive a single stipend of US$4000 for travel and living expenses. Fishbowl Challenge — Competition for Social Entrepreneurs
The Fishbowl Challenge brings college students from around the world together to solve the world’s most complex social and environmental problems. Students from all around the world are invited to apply and join a team of 4 peers to form a Fishbowl Team, come up with an approach to solve an important global issue chosen from 5 focus areas (including Environmental Protection and Renewable Energy) and develop a business plan. The winning team will receive up to US$50 thousand in prize money to develop their ideas further. Undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) university students from all countries are eligible to apply. U.S. Embassy Nairobi — Small Grants Program
The Ambassador’s Self-Help Fund (SSHF) provides small grants to registered self-help groups, youth groups, community based organizations, and specific types of educational institutions and medical facilities in Kenya. The Fund supports projects that assist special populations; actively protect, preserve, or restore the environment; support community water supply; or create innovative or unique income-generating activity within a community. Funding will range from US$1,000 to US$10 thousand; however, the average grant awarded is US$3,000 to US$7,000. The Embassy encourages applications from Kenya-based organizations, institutions, and individuals. They may partner with U.S.-based entities, but the grant recipient must be based in Kenya. The OPEC Fund honors outstanding contributions to sustainable development. Each year, the annual award recognizes a different theme of particular relevance to global development. Earth Journalism Network — Building Awareness about Renewable Energy in India
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) seeks to boost content production and distribution of information to build awareness about renewable energy in India. EJN will support the production of in-depth content on the subject with approximately Rs 90,000 per selected applicant. Content can be produced in English or local languages, or both. Applications are open to India-based content producers (online, print, television, radio) and other experts with a demonstrated interest in covering the renewable energy sector. The Thomson Reuters Foundation invites journalists from Latin America to register for a workshop on rural poverty and agriculture. United States Agency for International Development — Climate Resilient Agriculture
The United States Agency for International Development in Vietnam (USAID) seeks applications from qualified entities to implement the USAID Climate Resilient Agriculture in the Mekong Delta. The purpose of the program is to advance low-emissions, climate-resilient agricultural livelihoods combined with biodiversity conservation to support carbon sequestration, healthy ecosystems, and resilience of vulnerable communities. Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders — Training Program 2023
The Emerging Wildlife Conservation Leaders’ training program helps develop early-career conservation professionals through a combination of skills training, networking opportunities, and the completion of a global wildlife conservation initiative. Participation in the program lasts for two years. Applicants should have at least three years experience in wildlife conservation, with at least 15 years in the profession ahead of them.
