Borlaug Global Rust Initiative — Support for Women in Wheat Research

The Borlaug Global Rust Initiative (BGRI) offers the Jeanie Borlaug Laube Award for the professional development of women working on wheat research during the early stages of their careers. International Research & Exchanges Board — Community Solutions Program

The International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) seeks applications for its Community Solutions Program (CSP) with the aim to improve communities by addressing issues related to the environment, among others. The Community Solutions Program is a year-long professional development program with a four-month fellowship in the United States. To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 26 and 39 (as of 01 January 2025). Eligible countries from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Eastern Europe, East Asia and the Pacific, South and Central Asia, and Latin America are listed in the announcement. Catholic Relief Services — International Development c

The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) invites individuals dedicated to a career in international relief & development work to apply for the International Development Fellows Program. Fellows receive training and support CRS’ work in various sectors such as agriculture/livelihoods, health, water and sanitation, emergency response, or micro-financing. The Catholic Relief Services offers 20-30 fellowships each year. Each fellow is placed in one of CRS’ overseas country programs for a 12-month fellowship. Australian Government — Latin America Young Entrepreneur Award

The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) invites applications for the Australia – Latin America Young Entrepreneur Award. The award consists of two awards (AU$5 thousand each) – one to a young Australian and one to a young Latin American entrepreneur. Applicants must be under 40 and demonstrate that they contributed to building an organization that enriches the relationship between Latin America and Australia. (Note. European Space Agency — Earth Observation Africa

The African Research Fellowship (ARF) program aims at empowering African Researchers (PhD or Master’s degree) to carry out Earth Observation R&D activities. Candidates shall propose a 1-year research and development proposal contributing to water resources management or food security issues in Africa. Proposals focusing on smallholder needs (e.g. farming, agricultural water use, irrigation systems, etc.) or related to coastal processes (e.g. ecosystems, coastal waters, coastal urbanization, etc.) and fisheries. Asia Foundation — Leadership Program U.S./Asia

The Asia Foundation seeks applications to the “LeadNext: Ambassadors for a Global Future” program. LeadNext Fellows focus on creative approaches to addressing issues such as climate change, inequality, injustice, poverty, or other pressing issues. Fellows meet 1-3 times a week over several weeks to build competencies in social change leadership. All program expenses including travel, housing, and food are provided at no cost to fellows. Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs — Support for Young Social Entrepreneurs

Regional Incubator for Social Entrepreneurs (RISE) is a project for the youth, willing to learn and change things for the betterment of the Western Balkans. RISE invites ideas or innovative solutions for a new and better way to approach education, women empowerment, culture, rural development, health or employment in regional communities. The program will support regional changemakers through tailor-made programs, mentorship, and training. Young people from 18 to 35 years old from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia are eligible. Please note that Local Incubators may have different deadlines. ChangemakerXchange — Changemakers for the Planet

Changemakers for the Planet supports the work of young changemakers, activists, and innovators from Sub-Saharan Africa who address the planetary crisis, such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. The program provides young leaders with in-person summits, capacity building, and funding for collaborative efforts. The program is open to applications aged 18-35. World Bank — Young Professionals Program 2024

The World Bank Group invites applications for the Young Professionals Program as a starting point for a career at the World Bank. The program is designed for individuals skilled in areas such as agriculture, natural resources, and many others. Applicants should hold a PhD or master’s degree and relevant work experience; be fluent in English; and meet other criteria relevant to experience, skills, and age. International Development Research Center — Research in Community Forestry 2024

The John G. Bene Fellowship is awarded to graduate students at Canadian universities who hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. The grant is for research on the relationship between forest resources and the social, economic, cultural, and environmental welfare of people in developing countries. Therefore, the student must spend a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks in the field in the following regions: Middle East, North Africa, West Africa, East Africa, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Far Eastern Asia, Caribbean, Central America, South America, or Oceania. The award covers field research expenses up to CA$23 thousand per year. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to 11 October 2024. More
