Pangea — Blue Economy Accelerator

The Blue Economy Accelerator focuses on Blue economy startups from Africa. The program is designed to support women and youth-owned, ocean-based enterprises to sustain business growth through facilitating access to financing, business support, and technology adoption. The program will secure investment from a pre-selected pool of investors focusing on early stage funding of up to US$500 thousand. The application window will close on 29 August 2021. UNIDO — Innovative Solutions in Cleantech and Sustainable Land Management

UNIDO seeks readily deployable and scalable solutions to address the adverse effects of climate change and ultimately contribute to inclusive and sustainable economic development. Priority will be given to applications with solutions for: decarbonizing growing urban environments, generating and distributing clean energy, recycling for more climate-cautious consumption, and innovative solutions for sustainable land management. The call is addressed to private sector entities (micro, small, medium, and large companies & startups). Twelve winners will have the opportunity to present their innovative solution to a large audience during the Global Call award ceremony and will benefit from promotional and networking support. Access Bank W Initiative — Support for African Female Entrepreneurs

Womenpreneur Pitch-a-ton Africa is a women-in-business support initiative that provides financial grants and MBA certifications to women entrepreneurs in Africa. The program invites female entrepreneurs from Nigeria, Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, Sierra-Leone, Gambia, Kenya, Mozambique and Congo to apply to the next pitching competition. Eligibility extends to female business owners from all sectors. Participants have the chance to win ₦5 million (approx. US$12 thousand) in support of their business idea. Fondation Segré — Research Support Grants

The Fondation Segré Research Support Grants provide support to young and early-career researchers in their research to improve the knowledge on species and their role in natural ecosystems. The maximum grant size is €7 thousand for a maximum duration of 12 months. Applicants have to be enrolled at an academic institution in order to apply. The call remains open until 31 August 2021. Global Landscapes Forum — Amazonian Storytelling Competition

TThe Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) hosts an Amazonian Storytelling Competition looking for perspectives from Indigenous peoples and local communities, Afro-descendant peoples, peasants and women, farmers, and community leaders. Topics include deforestation, biodiversity loss, land rights, ecosystem restoration, and food security, among others. The three best stories will receive prizes of €500, €300 and €200 respectively. The competition is open to any young person between the ages of 18 and 35 who is currently living in the Amazon (Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela). TotalEnergies, Enea Consulting and Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL) launch the Energy Access Booster 2021 – a call for projects to support entrepreneurs in the field of energy access in Africa and Asia focusing on sustainable mobility. EIT Climate-KIC — Climate Action Citizen Engagement

The European Commission launches the design phase of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative. EIT Climate-KIC calls for climate innovation in public space through citizen engagement. Projects should mobilize citizen-driven initiatives and ideas all across-Europe and bring together cities, regions and social engagement innovators to empower civil society and drive climate action. EIT Climate-KIC will select three proposals and will grant a maximum of €30 thousand per proposal to develop a public space co-design activity in a city or region with civil society leadership. World Academy of Sciences — Program for Exchanges and Collaborations

TWAS invites scientists from least developed countries to carry out collaborative research projects. Scientists have the opportunity to visit research laboratories in Trieste (Italy) to carry out research work in genetic engineering and biotechnology. European Commission – ERC Advanced Research Grants

ERC Advanced Grants support ambitious research projects with up to €2,5 million for the duration of 5 years. Up to an additional €1 million can be requested in exceptional cases to cover (a) eligible “start-up” costs, (b) the purchase of major equipment, (c) access to large facilities, and/or (d) other major experimental and field work costs. The call is open to researchers of any nationality who intend to conduct their research activity in any EU member state.
