European Commission — Food and Nutrition Security in Africa

The European Commission (EC) accepts proposals to improve food security and nutrition in African cities. Projects are expected to contribute to a shift to food security and improved nutrition in five African cities and reducing the food-system-related environmental footprint. Applicants must be established in a Member State of the European Union, countries associated with Horizon Europe, or low- and middle-income countries. European Commission — Agro-ecological Approaches in African Agriculture Systems

The European Commission (EC) accepts proposals for the Agro-ecological Approaches in African Agriculture Systems Grant Program. The implementation of agro-ecological approaches will alleviate the pressure that agri-food production places on natural ecosystems, contributing to resilience of agri-food systems. Applicants must be established in a Member State of the European Union, countries associated with Horizon Europe, or low- and middle-income countries. UNDP Africa — Sahel Innovate Challenge

The United Nations Development Programme in Africa (UNDP Africa) seeks youth from the Sahel Region willing to pitch their innovative solutions to a panel of judges at the YouthConnekt Sahel Forum. UNDP Africa is interested in innovative ideas from a broad range of topics, including agroforestry and climate change mitigation/adaptation, driving the region’s transformation. Participants have to be 35 or younger and be a national of Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, The Gambia, Guinea, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, or Senegal. U.S. Mission to Zimbabwe — Funding for Community Organizations

The U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund (SSH) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a small, community-based development program. The program awards grants to non-profit, community-based organizations to implement short-term (12-month), small-scale (between US$2,500 and US$8,000) development projects that include significant community involvement. Priority consideration is given to income generating projects that improve basic economic or social conditions at the village level, which may include projects in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and access to clean water and sanitation. U.S. Agency for International Development — Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) seeks applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified organizations to implement Somalia’s Market Based Resilience for Marginalized Populations (MB-RMP) Activity. USAID intends to make one award of US$ 6.5 million to accelerate economic development of marginalized groups through rural and urban livelihood diversification. Eligibility is unrestricted. Applications are accepted from foreign and domestic non-profit organizations, for-profit companies, academic institutions as well as regional organizations and community groups. Yunus Environment Hub — Sustainable Food Systems in East Africa

The GrowUp Incubator supports early-stage entrepreneurs  with innovative solutions that have the potential to create substantial environmental and social impact. The 2022 cohort of GrowUp Incubator addresses sustainable food systems in East Africa to enable sustainable agricultural production and support sustainable practices along the whole food value chain and to mitigate climate change and build resilient communities. Selected entrepreneurs receive tailored mentorship, interactive capacity building workshops and networking opportunities with local partners. Ashoka — Fellowship Mexico, Central America, Caribbean

The Ashoka Fellowship selects social entrepreneurs with high impact and systems change projects in Mexico, Central American and Caribbean countries. Ashoka seeks projects with innovative strategies, methods, or new approaches to address opportunities and problems. PES Latam Alliance — Support for Social Entrepreneurs in Latin America

PES Latam Alliance supports social entrepreneurs in Latin America to accelerate their impact in the region. The Bridge for Billions program seeks social businesses with innovative solutions working to improve the lives of the most vulnerable. Selected social enterprises will be able to access up to US$50 thousand of seed capital, support through courses and events, training with alliance partners, and a community of entrepreneurs. The applicants must be a registered hybrid or for-profit business and must have been operating (selling product/service) for at least a year. German Academic Exchange Service — Postdoc Program in Research on Climate Change in Africa

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) seeks African researchers for a new postdoc program in application-oriented research on climate change. The program supports capacity building and collaborative research activities in the following areas: Agriculture, Land Use, Biodiversity, Food Security, Marine Science, Energy, Water Security, Woodland and Forest Sustainability. The fellowship consists of a flat-rate travel allowance, research funding of up to €10 thousand, and a monthly allowance of €800. The fellowship awards are for a period of 12 to 24 months. European Commission — Sustainable Water and Natural Resources Management and Protection

The European Union Rural Development Program aims to improve agricultural production, management of natural resources, and promote sustainable and efficient use of water in Tajikistan. The goal is to enable inclusive growth and resilience to extreme climate conditions in rural communities and to improve livelihood in rural areas. The overall amount made available under this call is €15 million. Eligibility extends to non-profit organizations.
