Located in the Netherlands, UNESCO-IHE offers six scholarships for the Water Cooperation and Diplomacy master’s program. The objective of the program is to train future water managers and other professionals to address competition over water. Eligibility extends to existing and future water professionals from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The scholarship will cover educational fees, however, successful applicants will be required to fund up to approximately US$5 thousand for living costs and flights. The Lead 2030 Challenge for SDG 6 seeks to increase water-use efficiency within households and drive responsible water usage. The challenge welcomes solutions that educate households (especially in countries and regions at greatest risk to the consequences of water scarcity) and drive innovative ways to reduce water usage through focused behavioral change methods or technological innovation. The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project grant and 12 months of mentorship from a team of RB professionals. The initiative must be youth-led (founded by a person aged 18 – 30). The Center for Mediterranean Integration and partners invite applications for the 4th Mediterranean Water Heroes Contest. Winners will participate in the CMI 2020 World Water Day workshop in Murcia, Spain (March 2020) with covered travel and accommodation. World Water Day 2020 will focus on “Water and Climate Change.” Young researchers, entrepreneurs and activists (18-35 years) working on water challenges in the Mediterranean from Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Montenegro, Palestinian Territories, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey are eligible to apply. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) makes small grants for pilot and demonstration activities (PDAs) to test and validate approaches to improve water resources management. PDAs are implemented in less than one year, and for funding of less than US$50 thousand. Eligibility extends to government agencies; international and national NGOs; and academic and research institutions. Initiative for Hygiene, Sanitation and Nutrition Innovation Fund grants awards for innovative approaches aimed at increasing access to and utilization of nutrition, hygiene and sanitation services in Afghanistan. Seed Grants (up to $60 thousand) are made to concept activities that are innovative and not previously implemented in nutrition or WASH. Advance Grants (up to $250 thousand) support approaches, technologies, services, products and processes that have already demonstrated feasibility and are ready to transition to the scale-up stage. Scale Up Grants are to support the scale-up stage of currently employed community-based programs. Eligibility extends to national and international nonprofit organizations, for-profit organizations, and institutions working in nutrition or WASH. The International RiverFoundation invites applications for the Vera Thiess Fellowship for Women. Women from developing countries get the opportunity to gain valuable work experience through the IRF and its partners, with the goal of advancing women’s participation in water and river management. The Foundation offers a 3 to 6 months fellowship consisting of project work, funding for travel, and participation in the 2020 International Riversymposium (China). The objective of the Joint Funding Scheme (JFS) is to bring together Southeast Asian and European researchers so that they can collaborate on topics of mutual interest, one of which is Integrated Water Resource Management. Joint projects must comprise of at least 3 partners from 3 different countries. Countries contributing to this call are: Brunei Darussalam, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Czech Republic, Germany, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Latvia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam. Funding will be provided for the duration of a maximum of three years (36 months). Proposals may be submitted by public research and technology development entities, academic institutions, non-university research establishments, and companies.The deadline is 18 October 2019. IHE Delft offers a PhD fellowship as part of the “NOMAD” Project to evaluate different methods for the removal of endocrine disrupters. Research will take place at the laboratory of IHE Delft (The Netherlands). The Fellow will receive €1190 /month, plus allowance for books and study materials. Candidates must have a Master’s degree in environmental biotechnology, environmental engineering, sanitary engineering, or similar to be considered for this fellowship. The Water Advanced Research and Innovation Fellowships fund Indian participants to gain exposure and access to research facilities in water resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Daugherty Water for Food Institute. Fellowships of three to twelve months are for Indian scientists holding a PhD in water science and engineering. Internships of three to six months are for individuals currently engaged in their PhD studies in water sciences in India. The application deadline is 30 September 2019. Link
