UN-Habitat welcomes expressions of interest to build a Multifunctional Clean Energy Centre in one of the secondary towns of Cameroon. The project will serve as a demonstration center for sustainable building design, renewable energy, and provision of sanitation service through a public toilet. UN-Habitat will contribute a maximum of US$35 thousand towards the implementation of the project. The North India Office of the U.S. Embassy New Delhi invites program proposals for a series of university-level youth debates on climate change and related environmental issues. The aim is to raise awareness about the complex conversations in this subject among college youth in the Indian states and territories of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. The U.S. Department of State will make one grant for approximately US$400 thousand to assist Morocco with a competition to help build capacity to mitigate the impacts of climate change through the use of clean energy and energy-efficient technologies. The challenge will feature small grants for workshops on energy technologies, public policy, and business development. The LEDS Global Partnership offers fellowships for individuals and teams of practitioners to be embedded with leading institutions to learn practical lessons that they can apply to low-emission development strategies and/or nationally determined contributions in their home countries. Fellowships will be awarded to individuals or groups of national or sub-national government officials who play a significant role within LEDS development or implementation. The Energy and Environment Partnership with the Mekong Region (EEP Mekong) announces its sixth call for proposals on clean energy. With financial support from the Government of Finland, EEP Mekong will support clean energy projects in the private sector that are close to commercial maturity, but that need a limited amount of bridge finance. To be eligible for grants, project developers should be based in one of the following countries: Cambodia, Finland, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, or Vietnam. UNFCCC announces its second annual Global Youth Video Competition on Climate Change. The competition invites young people between the ages of 18 and 30 to submit three-minute videos about their actions to address climate change or to raise public awareness about it. Two winners will receive a round trip and accommodations to attend the UN Climate Change Conference in November 2016 (Marrakech, Morocco). The deadline for submissions is 01 August 2016. Link

The European Commission announces its global event, “Innovative and Effective Approaches to Climate Change Adaptation and Other Post-COP21 Agreement Priorities,” scheduled for three days in September 2016. The event in Brussels will explore how experience on the ground influences policy development and vice-versa through discussion of four specific topics. The conference organizers invite proposals on these topics from EU Delegation representatives; implementing partners; governmental bodies; and non-state actors from academia, NGOs, and the private sector. The Lincoln Institute of Land Policy calls for proposals on several themes related to land policy and urban development in Latin America. One of these themes is climate change and environmental risks, such as for populations living on flood plains and steep slopes. The Climate Systems Analysis Group (CSAG) at the University of Cape Town organizes a “winter school” intensive course, with the next one scheduled for five days in June-July 2016. The course is presented by facilitators from CSAG and other institutions to take participants through the full spectrum of topics related to climate and climate change, with an emphasis on issues in developing countries. CSAG offers partial sponsorships to some participants. The first application deadline is 09 May 2016; the final deadline is 30 May 2016. Link
