The Global University Climate Forum brings student activists together to share ideas and act on the global imperative of addressing climate change. The Forum is a one-year program offering a series of workshops that will cover a range of topics pertaining to climate action. Selected teams will be invited to participate in a series of workshops. After the workshops, students will execute their ideas. College and University students from around the world are invited to apply with action-oriented projects. Enterprise Singapore (ESG) seeks applications for the Energy Open Innovation Challenge. Startups and small-and medium-sized enterprises are invited to submit innovative projects to improve the energy sector and provide solutions to the global energy industry. ESG will support selected companies with up to S$1 million of funding through grants for product development. Four startups will win a S$25 thousand startup grant. The European Commission (EC) seeks to strengthen the civil society in China to help tackle climate change and mitigating its adverse effects, among other priorities. The EC invites proposals that increase the capacities and engagement of local CSOs on climate change mitigation and adaptation. Applicants may request a financial contribution between €800 thousand and €850 thousand. Eligibility extends to non-profit civil society organizations established in China or the European Union. Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) accepts project proposals on “Climate change in Sub-Saharan Africa: The impacts and responses for women and girls.” The initiative seeks research proposals that address key knowledge gaps in order to more efficiently mitigate the effects of climate change on gender equality. PEP will fund up to four projects with a maximum of US$58 thousand. Each project team must be composed of both researchers and government officials. Climate Tracker offers a 3-month paid fellowship to environmental and climate journalists from Chile. Fellows are expected to cover Energy and Climate Change issues and publish at least two articles in national media. Selected fellows receive online training, mentorship and a US$150 stipend per month for the duration of their fellowship. EPIC-N, in partnership with the UN Environment’s Global Adaptation Network and START, offer a learning workshop on increasing climate-resilience and sustainability in Asian countries. The workshop aims to strengthen capacities for adaptation and resilience by forming key partnerships between city officials and local universities. The learning process requires pairs of candidates (at least one person from a local university and at least one person from a local municipal/city government within the same area). SNV Netherlands invites solar and stove distributors to submit their expression of interest (EOI) for partnership towards promoting solar products and clean cooking solutions in Kenya. Proposed projects have to target refugee camps in order to promote stoves and small scale solar solutions for social institutions in the refugee set-up. The Adaptation Fund announces that small grants are available under the Climate Finance Readiness Programme. South-South Cooperation grants are intended to increase peer-to-peer support among accredited National Implementing Entities (NIEs) and those seeking accreditation. Project Formulation Grants (up to a maximum of US$50 thousand) help build the capacity of NIEs in project preparation and design. Technical Assistance Grants are aimed at strengthening the capacity of NIEs in the areas of environmental, social, and gender risk management. The Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL) Initiative announces a special research grant program specifically related to understanding the relationship between private sector development and the environment. The objective of PEDL is to fund cutting-edge, policy-oriented research that could be published in leading academic journals. Exploratory Research Grant (ERG) are grants of between £10 thousand and £40 thousand. Grants will fund research assistance, data collection and new surveys in LICs.
