One World Media seeks experienced filmmakers who want to explore, through a short documentary, how climate change is affecting lives and work in the Global South. The film needs to be 25 minutes or less and be completed by June 2025. The successful filmmaker will receive up to £20 thousand in funding for their film. Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa (BGFA) aims to incentivize private off-grid energy service companies to scale up their innovative sustainable businesses and accelerate access to affordable and clean off-grid energy in Mozambique. The BGFA invites off-grid energy companies to submit proposals for clean and affordable energy solutions in peri-urban and rural areas. Grants are expected to be between €1 million and €2 million, depending on the country. The application process is divided into two stages: (1) Pre-Qualification and (2) Final Application. The Thomson Reuters Foundation offers a free communication course for organizations in India, Bangladesh, and Brazil working in communication and journalism. The online course will consist of a series of training in which participants will receive training in parallel with climate journalists. Those who make the shortlist will have an opportunity to pitch their story ideas to the lead trainers for a chance to receive a £300 story grant. The Global HEY Climate Fund aims to assist three young climate activists with their projects. The selected projects will receive US$5 thousand each. Applicants must submit proposals or ideas surrounding the topics: Climate Change and Health, Climate Change, Water Conservation and Food Security, Solid Waste Management, and Climate Change. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA) funds climate change mitigation and adaptation activities focused on scaling up the transition to an equitable and resilient net-zero economy. The Accelerator welcomes local partners in the countries in which USAID works to co-create and design initiatives to meet national and local climate goals. Private sector entities, foundations, and development banks can join the CFIN or become a climate finance partner eligible to receive support. Applications are open until 31 December 2024. The Climate Journalism Award promotes and recognizes exceptional climate journalism that adopts an innovative or original storytelling approach, encouraging journalists to prioritize reporting on climate-related issues. Stories can be submitted in five categories and winners will each receive a cash prize of €2,400. The submitted piece must have been published in a European-based media outlet. The African Development Fund (ADF) recognizes climate change as a major threat to Africa. The Fund has launched a call for proposals through its Climate Action Window (CAW) specifically seeking projects that mitigate greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture, forestry, land use, and fisheries; improve water access and wastewater management; and accelerate a just energy transition. The CAW will also support projects that address nature-based solutions and aim to restore mangroves and wetlands. Funding requested for a single project or program may range between US$ 3 million to 5 million. Eligible beneficiaries are governments and government entities of ADF countries. The European Climate Pact photo competition aims to showcase climate action. Photos should capture a climate-friendly daily routine, climate action, or a climate solution. The competition is open to everyone. 10 winners will receive an invite to the Climate Pact annual event in Brussels in 2025, with travel and accommodation covered. The Youth Climate Justice Fund seeks applications to support climate justice young leaders with trust-based funding, resources, and youth-to-youth capacity development. Groups can apply for a grant of up to US$10 thousand, which can be used for 12 months. Applying networks or collectives have to be led by young people aged 35 and under and be based in East Asia and Pacific, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, South Asia, Europe and Central Asia, or North America.
