The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) invites proposals to its Global Partnerships Seedcorn Fund 2020 call. The Fund allows UK environmental science researchers to forge new partnerships and networks with international researchers from developing countries. Activities under this grant scheme may include, but are not limited to, programs of exchange visits, scoping studies, proof of concept studies and workshops. The Nordic Africa Institute (NAI) provides funding to social science researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa for short-term collaborative assignments at the NAI in Uppsala, Sweden. Female researchers are especially encouraged to apply. The scholarship includes travel (economy class), accommodation, a subsistence allowance of SEK400 per day plus an installation grant of SEK2,500. The thematic research programs include the topics of economic growth, poverty alleviation, sustainable livelihoods, climate change, and sustainable development, among others. Sida funds short-term training in selected development topics for participants from developing countries. Sida invites professionals from Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia to apply for the advanced training program “Applied Land Governance, Land Valuation.” The overall objective of this program is to strengthening the ability of all course participants to design and lead internal change processes within their organization that enable sustainable organizational change toward gender equality. Women Environmental Programme calls for applications from interested civil society and community-based organizations for the Women2030 seed-grants in Ghana. Sub-grants are intended to build capacity of women’s and gender civil society organizations to advance local, national and regional gender-responsive sustainable development policies (2030 Agenda & Climate). This may include, but is not limited to, gender specific trainings and monitoring, tracking SDG/climate policies and budgets, social media campaigns, and participatory community activities for gender equality and/or sustainable development. The Canon Collins Trust offers scholarships to students from Southern African countries to attend masters degree programs at certain UK universities. The Trust offers one-year scholarships for students studying justice, including politics and the environment, among others. Applicants must be nationals of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, or Zimbabwe. The US Embassy offers small grants for projects that strengthen ties between the United States and Slovenia. Eligible topics for projects are broadly defined and include energy security, entrepreneurship and business development (including women), youth engagement, and environmental preservation and sustainability. Projects may request funding of US$10 thousand to US$70 thousand. Only registered Slovenian NGOs (institutions of higher education and nonprofits) may apply. The Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) awards the David Hopper Prizes for Leadership in Research for Development to two individuals for outstanding achievement in the field of international development. These prizes are available to researchers from low or middle-income countries who have previously received or currently receive IDRC support. The two winners will receive CA$50 thousand each. Service Objects In-Kind Grants provide support to organizations that encourage environmental leadership through the reduction of waste or assist in the aftermath of natural disasters. Organizations working to encourage environmental leadership and conservation are welcome to apply for grants of up to $2,500. Grants are offered to organizations that have 501(c)(3) status within the United States, however, there are no geographical limitations in relation to project implementation. Grants will be made on an individual basis, therefore, applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Find more information
The Water and Energy for Food (WE4F) Prize seeks business owners and entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia with innovations in renewable energy and agriculture. The Prize includes a US$355 thousand cash prize for winners and runners-up, and sponsorship to participate in the Clean Asia Energy Forum in the Philippines (June 2020). The Prize is open to mid-stage businesses and youth innovators. To be eligible for the mid-stage prize, enterprises must have existing services or products.
