The Food Systems Game Changers Lab supports game-changers who have ideas, initiatives, or innovations that have the potential to bring positive change to global food systems. The Lab will offer facilitation, learning resources, expert coaching, live sessions, and tailored mentorship programs. The Future Agro Challenge (FAC) is a global competition for food and agribusiness startups. Ideas and ventures will be selected to compete for the title of “Agripreneur of the Year.” The challenge is open to ideas in many areas such as agroforestry, sustainability, agriculture tourism, and others. Selected agripreneurs will gain access to mentors, investors, potential clients, and new market opportunities at the FAC Global Championships, an event at the Global Agripreneurs Summit. The Agropolis Foundation invites applications for research projects that promote agroecological transition and explore new practices and approaches in agricultural, forestry and other land-use activities to minimize climate change and biodiversity loss. The Foundation accepts research proposals for small initiatives (funding level of €20 thousand to €30 thousand) and fundamental research (funding level of €150 thousand to €200 thousand). The lead proponent must be from one of the research units belonging to the Foundation’s scientific network. The grants will support agricultural land reclamation, construction of concrete or earth water reservoirs, in addition to other complementary works. The European Union (EU) calls for proposals for agro-tech development to support and promote green and circular economy in Sierra Leone. The priorities are to promote livelihood of rural communities as a way to reduce degradation of natural resources and biodiversity and to promote the agro-industry sector through innovation technology (e.g., sustainable energy for agro-industry, climate smart technology solutions, etc.). The Land Accelerator trains and supports entrepreneurs that restore degraded forests and farmland. The program offers an all-virtual business creation and growth accelerator in Latin America. The accelerator is designed for companies that are in the testing phase of taking their product to market. Any business model that is recognized as restoring land is eligible, including, but not limited to smart agriculture, water conservation, agroforestry, tree planting, and beekeeping, forest conservation. The Canadian International Development Research Center (IDRC) and the Swedish International Development Agency seek organizations from low and lower-middle income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa to host an African-based research network on responsible artificial intelligence innovations in agriculture and food systems. Applicants must have a proven track record in the design, development, and scaling of artificial intelligence innovations in agriculture and food systems. IDRC will provide funding of up to C$1.2 million to design and implement an innovation research network of researchers and innovators applying responsible AI techniques. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ocean Innovation Challenge (OIC) seek innovative solutions that address sustainable fisheries and aquaculture focusing on SDG.
