NextWorldNow (NWN) is committed to working with community leaders who are solving difficult social problems. This includes social problems related to water, sanitation, deforestation, smallholder productivity, and food security – among other subject areas. Grants are up to US$10 thousand. The Monarch Butterfly Fund supports activities to protect the oyamel fir forests in which monarch butterflies overwinter in Mexico. The Lincoln P. Brower Award supports research projects of undergraduate and graduate students on the conservation of monarch butterflies and their habitats. The BBVA Foundation makes awards for biodiversity conservation in Spain and internationally. The Foundation’s goal is to publicly recognize the work done by conservationist organizations, institutions and agencies in carrying forward environmental conservation policies and projects. For Spain, there is one award of €250 thousand for actions in biodiversity conservation, and another award of €80 thousand for environmental communication.
