The Bergen Summer Research School offers parallel short courses for PhD students and young researchers on themes of urgent societal problems focusing on the transition to sustainability. The courses will focus on key global challenges, including socio-economic inequality, psychological and social science perspectives on climate change, and the sustainable development of life below water. Stipends to participate in the course are available for qualified individuals who are currently enrolled for studies and carrying out research in a list of eligible developing countries. Climate Tracker — Energy Transition in Latin America
Climate Tracker, in partnership with Clean Energy Wire, offers 12 scholarships to journalists to cover investigations into the energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean. The participant will be trained in the use of advanced media research tools and will address how the media covers the stories of energy and climate change in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime — Resilience Fellowship Environmental Crime
The Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) announces the Resilience Fellowship, which for 2022 will have Environmental Crime as its theme. The Resilience Fund provides grants and support to civil society individuals and organizations working to counter the impacts of criminal governance and violence across the world. Grants of US$15 thousand per Fellow will be awarded for one year. For the year 2022, a total of 10 Fellows will be selected. The Fellowship welcomes applications from people of any gender, ethnicity, age, religion or any other defining factor, who work in communities affected by organized environmental crime. Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund — Clean Energy Technologies
The Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) supports the private sector to expand its clean energy technologies to Africa’s rural communities. The AECF Innovation Fund is looking to invest between US$100 thousand and US$300 thousand to support business growth for impactful innovations across clean cooking and productive use of energy technology sectors. The co-financing requirement is a minimum of 30% of the project cost. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting on Illegal Fishing in Ecuador
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers scholarships to support the production of in-depth reports that report on illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing in Ecuador. Only entries in Spanish from Ecuadorian journalists will be accepted. Nominations are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and to other specialized media professionals with experience in investigative reporting and a history of coverage of environmental issues. Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP) launches a new initiative for Strengthening Impact Evaluation Capacities for Development (SIECD) in East and West Africa. This initiative aims to strengthen experimental impact evaluation capacities among experienced researchers and within governments in East and West Africa. PEP invites project teams to submit an expression of interest to pilot a new or existing policy initiative that can be evaluated using experimental evaluation techniques. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency supports projects that contribute to access to sustainable energy for households in developing countries. Projects under this call should contribute to access to renewable energy technologies and services. Applicants can apply for a subsidy of min. €250 thousand and max. €2.5 million per project.
