Yale University — Young Global Scholars Program

Yale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) offers two-week academic summer programs for high school students from all around the world. The program offers four interdisciplinary sessions on campus at Yale (USA), including sessions on Innovations in Science & Technology and Solving Global Challenges. YYGS offers the opportunity for students to apply for need-based financial aid. Furthermore, YYGS will waive the application fee if it constitutes a significant financial burden for the student’s family. The application deadline is 15 October 2026. Global EbA Fund — Small Grants for Scaling Ecosystem-based Adaptation

The Global EbA Fund invites proposals that remove the barriers to scaling ecosystem-based adaptation. Projects can strengthen institutional and technical capacity, build evidence and learning networks, prepare investment-ready concepts, adapt proven technologies or fund applied research. Grants are up to US$250,000 for projects of up to 24 months. The call focuses on Small Island Developing States and Least Developed Countries. NGOs, community and Indigenous organisations, universities, research institutes, private companies, and international and intergovernmental organisations can apply, alone or in consortia. Earth Journalism Network — Reporting Fellowships to Cover the High Seas Treaty COP1 in New York

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) will send ten journalists, split equally between the Global North and Global South, to cover the first Conference of the Parties of the High Seas Treaty (the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction agreement) in New York from 11 to 22 January 2027. The network pays economy airfare, accommodation, meals, travel medical insurance and ground transport, plus a daily allowance, and reimburses visa costs. It also arranges press accreditation and provides a pre-conference virtual workshop, an orientation day on 10 January, and daily briefings with media trainers. Applicants must be professional journalists from or representing an established media house in a coastal country, with experience reporting on ocean issues. Fellows must produce at least two in-depth stories during the fellowship or within two weeks after it. The network especially encourages applicants from Namibia, Ecuador, Peru, Seychelles, Japan, Spain, Canada and South Korea. The deadline is 27 October 2026. Reporting Fellowships

GIZ MOVE-ComCashew — Cashew Business Idea Competition

GIZ’s MOVE-ComCashew project invites young and emerging cashew entrepreneurs to turn a business idea into an investment-ready, climate-smart plan and submit it for a kickstart prize. Winners receive either €2,000 in direct funding or a laptop, tablet or software. The page doesn’t say how many prizes there are. Applicants must be at least 18, based in a member state of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS), and have an idea anywhere in the cashew value chain. GIZ Agri-Business Facility for Africa — Business Growth Awards for Young Agripreneurs

GIZ’s Agri-Business Facility for Africa invites young and emerging agripreneurs to turn a business idea into a funded plan through its Agribusiness Growth Challenge. Ideas must fall in maize, livestock (cattle, sheep or goats), cashew or cocoa. The Business Growth Awards are listed as €6,000 in funding, a Dell Pro 14 Essential laptop and a place in a six-month agribusiness mentoring programme. Applicants must be at least 18 and based in a member state of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS). Submissions close on 30 October 2026. Technische Universität Dresden — Masters in Tropical Forestry 2027

The MSc Course in Tropical Forestry taught at Technische Universität Dresden (TDU) in Germany qualifies students to develop sustainable forest management strategies and implement development-relevant interventions in rural and peri-urban areas. Germany’s DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) will fund a limited number of scholarships for applicants from developing countries to enroll in TDU’s 2-year master’s program. Applicants must hold a university degree in forestry, agriculture, horticulture, or other related field. Ashinaga Africa Initiative — University Scholarship for Orphans

The Ashinaga Africa Initiative provides full scholarships to orphaned students from Sub-Saharan Africa to study at a university abroad. Ashinaga will cover tuition, accommodation, travel costs, and other necessary fees. The age limit to apply for this scholarship is 23 years. Students must be committed to returning home and contributing to society in Sub-Saharan Africa after graduating from university. United Nations Academic Impact — Millennium Fellowship

The Millennium Fellowship is a semester-long leadership development program with access to training, connections, and recognition. The program will run on campuses worldwide from August to November where cohorts of 8-20 Millennium Fellows have been selected. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and be enrolled in a college or university. The Millennium Fellowship is open for undergraduate students only. The application deadline is 31 October 2026. Earth Journalism Network — Virtual Workshops on 30×30 and Marine Protected Areas

The Earth Journalism Network invites journalists, content creators and other media professionals in Ghana, Mexico and the Philippines to apply for free three-day virtual workshops on the global target to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030 and on marine protected areas. The Ghana workshop runs the week of 15 February 2027, Mexico the week of 22 February and the Philippines the week of 1 March. The network will accept 30 to 40 participants per country, and attendees who complete all sessions receive a certificate. A limited number of communication grants are available to people with unstable internet in remote areas. Participants get special consideration for the network’s reporting grants of US$1,500 each, of which it aims to award up to 35. Applications close on 02 November 2026. Virtual Workshops

MIT Solve — Global Climate Challenge 2027

MIT Solve invites individuals, nonprofits and companies worldwide to submit tech-based solutions that help communities adapt to a warming climate and cut emissions from how people live and eat. Its focus areas are low-carbon, climate-resilient cities, protection from heat, floods, drought and wildfire, climate-resilient or nature-positive agrifood systems, and sustainable use of ocean and coastal systems. Solutions must be at prototype, pilot, growth or scale stage. Every selected team receives a US$10,000 Solver Award and joins a nine-month support program. The sponsored prizes relevant to this challenge include US$150,000 for climate-positive food systems, up to US$100,000 for ocean innovation from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, and up to US$100,000 for scale-ready marine technology from Schmidt Marine Technology Partners.
