The Hawk Migration Association of North America Research Award supports field studies relating to raptor migration ecology and behavior, population monitoring, and conservation. Up to two proposals with a total value of US$1 thousand each will be funded per year. Grants can be used for research targeted to understanding the connectivity among breeding, migrating, and non-breeding distributions of raptor species or monitoring activities. The IIE Scholar Rescue Fund (IIE-SRF) provides fellowships for professors, researchers, and public intellectuals who face threats to their lives and careers in their home countries. Fellows will receive temporary academic positions at institutions of higher learning anywhere in the world where they can continue their work in safety. Professors, senior researchers, and public intellectuals from any country, academic field, or discipline may qualify. Applications from women and members of ethnic, racial, cultural, or religious minority groups, or those otherwise underrepresented in their fields, are especially encouraged. Turing Foundation — Grants for Marine Ecosystems
The Turing Foundation is committed to supporting biodiversity—especially marine and coastal ecosystems like mangroves, seagrass, and coral reefs. Projects supported include protection of marine nursery habitats and climate-focused nature conservation efforts. Tiny Beam Fund — Negative Impacts of Global Industrial Animal Agriculture
Tiny Beam Fund offers communication grants to researchers who wish to “address negative impacts of global industrial food animal production” (especially in low- and middle-income countries). Communication Grants are aimed at encouraging academics who have studied the problems caused by global industrial animal agriculture to take steps to share their research. There is no fixed upper or lower limit for each grant. Only in exceptional cases will a grant provide over US$50 thousand in 12 months. The University of Queensland Australia, in partnership with edX, offers an online course on tropical coastal ecosystems. Participants will develop the skills and knowledge needed to help preserve tropical coastal ecosystems and have a basic understanding of the value, vulnerability, dynamics and sustainable management, as well as learning the process of designing and implementing an experiment in a virtual ecology project.
