The Friedrich Ebert Foundation supports international students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe who study at universities in Germany. (Note: The FES only awards scholarships to applicants from abroad who have already enrolled in a German university or have a supervisor for their doctoral studies.) International students from all subjects (except the medical disciplines) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Foreign scholarship holders receive up to €1 thousand per month over a period of two to three years, plus family allowance (if applicable). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting provides grants to individual journalists and news organizations to support in-depth, high-impact reporting on topics of global importance. Awards cover reporting costs. Most awards for international travel are between US$5 thousand and US$10 thousand. Soest Third World Group Foundation — Small-Scale Development Projects
The Soest Foundation, based in the Netherlands, supports small-scale development projects for water, agriculture, aquaculture, and other needs of the very poor. The average contribution to a project is about €2,500 to €3,000. Project assistance is provided for up to three years. Many recent grants are in Sub-Saharan Africa and India, but there are no geographical restrictions. Applications can be made in English or French. How to apply
