Watson Institute — Western Union Foundation Fellowship

The Western Union Foundation Fellowship is for young entrepreneurs and community leaders who are from highly marginalized, refugee, and forcibly displaced communities around the globe. The 16-week-long program is designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and experience to transform their communities. US$25 thousand in seed funding will be distributed among the Fellows. The Watson Institute accepts applicants from the following countries: Mexico, Kenya, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, United States, and Afghanistan. Aspire Coronation Trust Foundation — Development Grants for Africa

The Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation seeks applications for the Changemakers Innovation Challenge. The challenge is open to non-profits and social enterprises across Africa who are using technological/digital tools to create innovative social solutions. Focus areas include health, environment, leadership, and entrepreneurship. Proposed projects must have a maximum life cycle of 12 months and benefit African communities. UNIDO — Innovative Solutions in Cleantech

Global Cleantech Innovation Program promotes innovation and entrepreneurship in emerging markets and developing economies to address climate and environmental challenges. The program supports start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises with innovative cleantech ideas in establishing and upscaling robust business models. Connecting Dreams Foundation — Global Changemaker Fellowship

The Connecting Dreams Foundation accepts proposals for the Global Changemaker Fellowship. The Fellowship is a 6-month virtual program intended to develop Social Change Leaders who are focused on handling challenges in their local communities. Fellows participate in workshops and receive training and mentorship while implementing their local initiative. The program is intended for young leaders (aged 20-35) with an entrepreneurial mindset and approach towards solving community-centric challenges. Students in school, college, university, and working professionals working on an initiative to create a social change along the lines of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are invited to apply. Tinker Foundation — Sustainable Resource Management in Latin America

Tinker’s program of Institutional Grants supports the theme of sustainable resource management (among others) in Latin America. Particular issues of interest include sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry and non-timber forest products, sustainable tourism, fisheries management, and payment for environmental services. Tinker is also very interested in issues of water scarcity and quality for communities. Grants typically range from US$50 thousand to US$150 thousand, for up to three years. The Foundation encourages project collaboration among organizations in the USA and Latin America. Thomson Reuters Foundation — Communicating Just Transition Issues

The Thomson Reuters Foundation offers a free communication course for organizations in India, Bangladesh, and Brazil working in communication and journalism. The online course will consist of a series of training in which participants will receive training in parallel with climate journalists. Those who make the shortlist will have an opportunity to pitch their story ideas to the lead trainers for a chance to receive a £300 story grant. Irish Aid — Ireland Fellows Programme 2025/26

Irish Aid offers scholarships to qualified candidates from Sub-Saharan Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America to undertake Master’s degrees at universities and colleges in Ireland. Awards are made in the fields of development studies, rural development, biodiversity conservation, and many other subject areas relevant to the Terra Viva Grants Directory. Ashley Lashley Foundation — Global Climate Fund

The Global HEY Climate Fund aims to assist three young climate activists with their projects. The selected projects will receive US$5 thousand each. Applicants must submit proposals or ideas surrounding the topics: Climate Change and Health, Climate Change, Water Conservation and Food Security, Solid Waste Management, and Climate Change. Korea International Water Week — World Water Challenge 2024

The World Water Challenge is an international contest for water solutions. The Korea International Water Week (KIWW) aims to discover imminent water problems and to find feasible solutions. Participants are asked to select a water challenge (identified in the call) and submit their solution. The total prize amount for the World Water Challenge 2024 is KRW 10 million (approx. US$7,600). Winners will have the chance to be invited to the WWCH showcase during the KIWW 2024 and/or the World Water Forum. Individuals or organizations are welcome to participate. Institute for Global Environmental Strategies — Satoyama Development Mechanism 2024

The IGES, the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Studies on Sustainability, and Japan’s Ministry of the Environment announce the latest round of sub-grants under the Satoyama Development Mechanism. The International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) promotes the sustainable use of Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes. Grants are up to US$20 thousand for field projects; research; collaboration activities; and capacity building and outreach that link ecosystems and community systems on a sustainable basis. Applicants must be approved members of the IPSI at the date of submitting project proposals. The application deadline is 15 August 2024. More
