Mastercard Foundation — Scholarships for Africans at University of Cape Town

The Mastercard Foundation funds economically disadvantaged students from Sub-Saharan Africa for study at University of Cape Town (UCT). The fields of study at UCT include different areas of sciences; and many others. The scholarship includes comprehensive financial assistance with visa applications, travel, tuition, living expenses, medical aid and accommodation. These scholarships cover the full period of study and are renewable annually. The scholarship application has to be submitted no later than 25 September 2022. About the scholarship

Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund — Conservation in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot

The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) invites letters of inquiry (LOI) to empower local communities to engage in conservation and management of key biodiversity areas of Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. CEPF intends to make small grants of US$40 thousand and large grants of up to US$200 thousand. The call is open to NGOs, community groups, Indigenous People’s organizations, women’s groups, private companies and other civil society organizations. International Atomic Energy Agency — Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program (MSCFP) aims to help increase the number of women in the nuclear field and drive global scientific and technological innovation. Selected students receive a scholarship for Master’s programs in nuclear related studies. They are also provided with an opportunity to pursue an internship facilitated by the IAEA for up to 12 months. Female scientists from all around the world are invited to apply. European Commission — Agri-Enterprise Program Bangsamoro

The European Commission (EC) seeks to support the development of agri-fisheries in Bangsamoro. Proposals should address locally integrated agri-fishery systems and market driven value chain developments through a multi-annual action plan, be environmentally sustainable and focus on the  use of agro-ecological farming techniques. Grants requested under this call for proposals must fall between €1,5 million and €3 million. Eligibility extends to non-governmental organizations, private or public sector operators, local authorities, and international organizations established in a Member State of the European Union. Natural Environment Research Council — Independent Research Fellowship 2022

The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funds researchers seeking to conduct their own environmental research within an eligible host organization in the UK. NERC supports fellows undertaking research across the breadth of the NERC remit within environmental sciences, including: freshwater, earth, atmospheric, marine and terrestrial sciences, earth observation, and polar science. The total available funding is £7.4 million. This opportunity is open to applicants who hold a PhD qualification. The fellowship covers 80% full economic cost for five years. UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office — Research, Science, and Innovation Leadership Fellowship

The Chevening Research, Science and Innovation Leadership Fellowship (CRISP) is aimed at mid-career professionals with very high potential in the fields of science, innovation, and business from India and Sri Lanka. Each fellowship includes program fees, living expenses for the duration of the fellowship, and return economy airfare from India or Sri Lanka to the UK. To be eligible for a Chevening CRISP Fellowship, applicants must have a postgraduate level qualification and at least seven years’ work experience prior to applying. Commonwealth Secretariat — Commonwealth Youth Awards 2023

The Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work recognize individuals ages 15 to 29 who lead innovative development projects in themes that include agriculture, small enterprise, skills training, climate change, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, and poverty reduction. The program selects regional winners from each of Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Winners are awarded grants of up to a total of £5 thousand in total to advance their projects. African Development Bank — Mo Ibrahim Foundation Fellowship 2023

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation financially supports the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship position in the African Development Bank. The Fellowship allows talented individuals to increase and enhance their professional capacity, with the intention of contributing to the governance and development of their countries. The priority for the 2023 selection of the Mo Ibrahim Fellow includes energy (“powering Africa”); agriculture (“feeding Africa”); and others. Netherlands Organization for International Cooperation in Higher Education — MENA Scholarships

The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Scholarship Program offers scholarships to professionals from ten MENA countries for short courses of two to twelve weeks in the Netherlands. Subject areas include agriculture, environment, and many others. NUFFIC supports professionals up to age 45 who are nationals of and working in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, and Tunisia. (Note: MSP is not currently open to professionals applying from Syria.) Potentially interested individuals review the courses and dates offered by the participating Dutch higher education institutions, and information about how to apply. Technische Universität Dresden — Masters in Tropical Forestry 2023

The MSc Course in Tropical Forestry taught at Technische Universität Dresden (TDU) in Germany qualifies students to develop sustainable forest management strategies and implement development-relevant interventions in rural and peri-urban areas. Germany’s DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) will fund a limited number of scholarships for applicants from developing countries to enroll in TDU’s 2-year masters program. Applicants must hold a university degree in forestry, agriculture, horticulture, or other related field.
