Acumen, with funding from the Rockefeller Foundation, invites students from all around the world to submit innovative solutions to tackle the greatest food systems challenges. The Rockefeller Foundation-Acumen Food Systems Fellowship is an intensive, one-year leadership development program for food systems leaders who are creating more inclusive, nourishing and regenerative food systems. Eligibility extends to individuals who demonstrate experience in building inclusive food systems. Biomimicry Institute — Youth Design Challenge 2023
The Biomimicry Youth Design Challenge (YDC) is a project-based learning experience for middle and high school teams. Participants are asked to design bio-inspired ideas that can provide solutions to the climate crisis. The Youth Design Challenge follows an academic calendar which means that teachers can teach the biomimicry project at any time. The challenge is open to schools from all around the world (US equivalent grades 6th-12th). Schools have to register teams that consist of up to eight student team members and an official teacher coach. Each team has the chance to win multiple prizes. Social Shifters — Global Innovation Challenge
Social Shifters announces the Global Innovation Challenge to help young leaders and founders to solve the social or environmental issues that matter to them. The challenge seeks creative ideas, projects, and business solutions to the problems that matter to local communities and welcomes ideas from anywhere in the world. Participants compete for awards of up to US$10 thousand to deliver activities that improve lives, help communities, and protect the planet. Faith For Our Planet — Youth Climate Fellowship
Faith For Our Planet, in collaboration with Duke University, launches a program for climate conscious youth leaders from around the world. The program targets religious leaders, climate activists and early-career professionals in faith-based organizations who wish to mobilize faith communities to combat climate change. Participants will have the opportunity to expand their networks and develop their skills to deliver an impactful faith-based climate action project. The MIT Solve program seeks passionate young innovators aged 24 and under who implement solutions that have positive impacts in their communities and the world. The Solv[ED] Youth Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to submit tech-based solutions that address one of four thematic areas: Learning, Health, Sustainability and Economic Prosperity, for example, innovations that can reduce the effects of climate change. 10 winners will receive prize funding and mentorship from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Earth School consists of 30 days of nature-focused content for learners of all ages. Each Quest includes videos and a quiz, combined with a series of engaging learning resources curated by environmental experts. Teachers and parents are invited to use these lessons and activities to keep their students and kids engaged and connected to the outside world. Lessons are free and accessible anytime. African Development Bank — African Youth Adaptation Solutions Challenge
The Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) seek to accelerate climate adaptation action under the African Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP). The program will support the commercialization of climate change adaptation solutions of youth entrepreneurs in Africa. The YouthADAPT Challenge is open to solutions (products, services, tools, or ideas) targeted at climate change adaptation and increasing resilience. AAAP awards a business grant of up to US$100 thousand to further develop the solution. Deloitte — Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 13 (Climate Action)
The Young One World Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 13 seeks to support scalable youth-led solutions that address climate change through ecosystem engagement. The challenge welcomes solutions from young innovators (18-30 years old). The winner will receive a US$50 thousand project startup grant and 12-months of mentorship from Deloitte professionals.
