The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers media grants to immigrant, Black, Indigenous and people of color-serving newsrooms and media collectives in the United States and Canada to support innovative, investigative, and/or enterprise reporting projects on environmental or climate change. EJN anticipates supporting three organizations with grants of US$8,000 each. Immigrant and/or BIPOC-serving media in the United States and Canada are eligible to apply. Johns Hopkins University — Science Writing Fellowship
The Johns Hopkins Science Writing Fellowship aims to improve science journalism and science itself by providing reporting grants for feature-length magazine articles. Grants will support articles that reveal flaws in current science policy, practice, or funding and identify ways these challenges might be overcome. The Good Science Project–Johns Hopkins MA in Science Writing Fellowship will award four grants each year. Grant funds will be distributed in two installments: US$2,500 when the grant is awarded and US$2,500 upon submission of a polished final draft. Awardees can use the funds to cover living expenses and reporting costs, including travel, and are not required to track or submit expenses. Melton Foundation — Global Citizenship Learning Program
The Global Citizenship Learning Program is a 1.5-year learning program with virtual and in-person activities, and interdisciplinary community projects furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program is open to university students aged 18- 25 who are currently enrolled at one of our partner universities (China, India, Chile, Ghana, Germany, United States). Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism — Oxford Climate Journalism Network
The Oxford Climate Journalism Network is a global network for practicing journalists to learn from peers and academics while developing their own expertise and career in climate journalism. Members of the network will participate in a six-month online program with access to experts, dedicated workshops, and a community of 100 journalists from all continents. The course is designed for journalists, multimedia reporters, photographers, and editors who are interested in improving their coverage of climate change. International Organization for Migration — COP29 Youth Delegates on Climate Migration
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) invites young people to express their interest in joining the IOM COP29 Youth Delegates on Climate Migration. The initiative will select and fully fund 20 youth delegates from different regions to participate in COP29, and in a series of online activities, such as webinars and consultations, before the Conference. To be eligible to apply, the applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old and have a demonstrated interest and experience in migration and climate change issues. Agenda Propria — Course on Indigenous Journalism
Agenda Propria offers a virtual course to help Indigenous and non-indigenous journalists around the world understand journalism from the perspective of indigenous peoples and to produce better reports. Earth Journalism Network — Climate Resilience
The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) offers a training and grant opportunity for social media content producers in the Philippines. As part of this program, EJN will offer P108 thousand each to 10 social media content producers in the Philippines. Selected content producers will participate in a 4-day in-person training workshop on climate change and climate resilience and, with support from mentors, produce and disseminate four pieces of climate-related video content on social media platforms. EJN accepts applications from social media content producers who actively and frequently post short-form videos on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, X, or other leading social media platforms. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a virtual media workshop for journalists from Africa interested in reporting on net zero. Applicants can be from any country in Africa; applicants from South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, and Morocco are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and other expert media practitioners with professional reporting experience and a history of covering environmental and net zero issues. Connecting Dreams Foundation — Global Changemaker Fellowship
The Connecting Dreams Foundation accepts proposals for the Global Changemaker Fellowship. The Fellowship is a 6-month virtual program intended to develop Social Change Leaders who are focused on handling challenges in their local communities. Fellows participate in workshops and receive training and mentorship while implementing their local initiative. The program is intended for young leaders (aged 20-35) with an entrepreneurial mindset and approach towards solving community-centric challenges.
