Earth Journalism Network — Training: Investigate Environmental Crimes

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) trains selected journalists in East Africa on techniques to investigate money laundering, fraud, bribery and corruption, trace assets, underground money movements and illicit payment methods. Applicants can be from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda or South Sudan. Applications are open to journalists working in any medium (online, print, television, radio). Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit — Investment in African Agribusiness

The GIZ ‘Scaling Digital Agriculture Innovations through Start-ups’ (SAIS) Investment Readiness Program seeks to scale digital innovations developed by African start-ups that enable their users in the agricultural or food sector to increase their income. Participating start-ups will receive virtual coaching and training sessions, in-person workshops, and access to service providers. This opportunity is aimed at start-ups (for-profit businesses) registered in Africa with scalable digital solutions with a clear positive impact on income in the agricultural and/or food sector. The  Youth Policy Lab supports youth-led climate solutions in the Mediterranean by showcasing innovative ideas globally. Selected participants will draft actionable policies shared with high-level policymakers at the 2023 Rome MED Dialogues and potentially presented at the UN Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP28). Earth Journalism Network — Media Workshop on Natural Resource Governance

The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) hosts a media workshop with the aim to improve journalists’ knowledge and reporting skills to tell impactful and in-depth stories about natural resources governance in the Mekong region. The three-day workshop will be held in English in early July, at a venue in Thailand. Following the training, participants will be invited to pitch story ideas. EJN will award 16 grants of US$1,500 each to journalists to produce their proposed stories.
