Canon Collins — Postgraduate Study in South Africa in Climate Justice

The Canon Collins Trust seeks to support exceptional individuals who are committed to social justice in Southern Africa. In 2026, climate justice will be a priority. Climate Justice related scholarship applications may be in a science or applied science field as long as the application can demonstrate its relevance to climate justice-related matters. The value of the scholarship ranges from R20 thousand to R100 thousand. Applicants must be nationals of Namibia, South Africa, or Zimbabwe. The deadline for applications is 02 September 2025. Society for Conservation Biology — Graduate Student Research Fellowship

The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) supports graduate students whose research advances the science and practice of conserving biological diversity. The Fellowship Awards will support field work, including travel, materials or equipment required to conduct research. UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office — Chevening Scholarships 2026-2027

The Chevening Scholarships provide full or partial funding for full-time courses at the postgraduate level, normally a one-year master’s degree, in any subject at any UK university. Chevening Scholars come from 150 countries, excluding the USA and the EU. Applicants complete the application forms for their chosen universities. Garden Club of America — Awards in Tropical Botany and Horticulture

The Garden Club of America (GCA) offers several grants, prizes, and fellowships for students enrolled at universities in the USA, including some awards that have a tropical focus. The GCA Awards in Tropical Botany are open to PhD candidates (application deadline is 15 January); the Loy McCandless Marks Scholarship in Tropical Horticulture is restricted to U.S. citizens who are graduate students or advanced undergraduate students (deadline is 15 January). Friedrich Ebert Foundation — Scholarships for International PhD Students

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation supports international students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe who study at universities in Germany. (Note: The FES only awards scholarships to applicants from abroad who have already enrolled in a German university or have a supervisor for their doctoral studies.) International students from all subjects (except the medical disciplines) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Foreign scholarship holders receive up to €1 thousand per month over a period of two to three years, plus family allowance (if applicable). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Commonwealth Scholarship Commission — Professional Fellowships 2025/26

Commonwealth Professional Fellowships support mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth countries to make professional visits (typically of three months) with UK host organizations. Applications are invited in the thematic area of clean energy, air, and oceans. Fellows must be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British-protected persons — and they must be permanent residents in a developing Commonwealth country. Technische Universität Dresden — Masters in Tropical Forestry 2026

The MSc Course in Tropical Forestry taught at Technische Universität Dresden (TDU) in Germany qualifies students to develop sustainable forest management strategies and implement development-relevant interventions in rural and peri-urban areas. Germany’s DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service) will fund a limited number of scholarships for applicants from developing countries to enroll in TDU’s 2-year master’s program. Applicants must hold a university degree in forestry, agriculture, horticulture, or other related field. Earth Institute — Post-Doctoral Fellowships 2026

The Earth Institute at Columbia University invites applications for 2-year postdoctoral fellowships that contribute to understanding critical scientific and social issues in global sustainable development. Specific areas of research include food security, energy systems, climate change, poverty reduction, disease, and environmental degradation. The multi-disciplinary program is open to U.S. and non-U.S. citizens who received their doctoral degrees within five years of beginning their appointments. Schlumberger Foundation — Funding for Women in PhD and Postdoctoral Studies

Schlumberger Foundation’s ‘Faculty of the Future’ supports women in developing and emerging economies in pursuing PhD and postdoctoral studies at the international level. Grants are in the physical sciences, engineering, and related fields — including past grants in subjects such as ecology and environment. Grants can be up to US$50 thousand per year for PhD courses and a maximum of US$40 thousand for post-doc research programs. The deadline to submit new applications is 07 November 2025. Soroptimist — Support to Women Achieve Educational Goals

The Live Your Dream Awards offers cash awards of US$1 thousand to US$10 thousand to help women who are the sole financial providers for their families cover tuition costs, purchase books, get transportation, or find reliable childcare.
